I haven’t been out to Tanners Orchard in a couple years and I was planning on going out there this year. Then the other day I saw a post on facecrack that this Saturday is the last day of the 2024 season!
That can only mean one thing…let’s make like an apple, peel out and get the hell over there!
Here we are at Tanners Orchard. This is an iconic Central Illinois apple orchard and gathering place. Let’s go inside because it’s windy and absolutely freezing out here!
As you can see, it’s huge inside of here and they have a lot of festive gifts and holiday decorations on display.
I love the rustic feel in here and there’s free samples of their homemade apple cider over here and for sale in this refrigerated case.
Speaking of apples, even though it’s less than a week from closing time, there’s a nice selection of fresh apples to choose from in here.
Hey, check out the last photo, those apples look just like pumpkins! They must have cross-bred them or something. Fascinating stuff out here at Tanners Orchard!
Here’s a bakery section filled with apple-themed freshly baked goods.
There’s a nice dining area over here to enjoy some of the food and drink offerings in here.
Next to that area is an indoor waterfall. Nice!
Framed press clippings from the years gone by hang on this wall.
Since it’s the end of the season, it’s pretty quiet outside. All the apples have been picked, the petting zoo is closed but you can still wander around and see some of the outdoor exhibits on display.
I thought I’d hit the bathroom before the ride home and I have to admit it was a little uncomfortable having that creepy horned animal staring at me while I’m trying to do my business. Sheesh!
Tanners Orchard’s last day of the 2024 season is this Saturday, November 30, so you still have a few days to come out and have a look around and stock up on apples and cider!
