Okay, I’m excited because it’s time for the monthly Scott Turley Road Trip! This month Scott decided to take us to Spring Bay, Illinois to visit a fairly new place I’ve heard a lot about, Sheets Creek Saloon…hey, there’s a knock on the door, let’s see who it is…
Eugene Levy! I didn’t say Schitt’s Creek, I said Sheets Creek, besides Schitt’s Creek is all over. We’re waiting for someone else, why don’t you go have an SCTV reunion or something! Sheesh!
Okay, there’s another knock at the door…
Okay, this is the guy we’re waiting for, Scott Turley, MBIP Pal and Wheelman!
The stupid sunshine is silhouetting him out a little, but he’s got on another classic Scott t-shirt!
There’s Scott behind the wheel and as you can see, it’s raining a little. Oh well, it’s not going to dampen our spirits, onward and upward! Or something like that.
We’re here and the sun came out after the rain! Wow, this is a cool building!
There’s Scott leading the way as always, let’s go in and start this month’s road trip adventure in Spring Bay, Illinois!
Wow, it’s nice with a decidedly rustic, wooden atmosphere and there’s a good crowd in here. We settled in at the U-Shaped bar that dominates the front room.
Pat the bartender served us up a couple beers and posed for the MBIP Camera!
Cheers!
There’s the owner of Sheets Creek Saloon, Scott Sheets!
Scott said things have been going great in here and said he was familiar with MBIP. He was really friendly and welcoming.
Great to meet him and I’m glad he’s having a nice success with this saloon in Spring Bay.
Scott and I checked out the menu, placed our orders with Pat and then I took off to take photos. Scott said he’d guard our places at the bar!
There’s a cozy, separate dining room just off from the front bar area.
They have a fantastic deck outside that overlooks the lake and woods.
What a spectacular view!
If you’re in a gambling mood, they have a discreet gaming room over here.
Meanwhile, back at the bar, Scott’s ordered me a fresh beer and our appetizer order has magically appeared!
We split an order of the Pretzel Sticks with Beer Cheese.
They were crisp and salty on the outside and pillowy soft inside. The Beer Cheese was creamy, rick and very satisfying.
For dinner Scott and I both got one of Sheets Creek Signature dishes.
Scott got a Double Smash Burger and I got the Fried Chicken Dinner.
They both look fantastic!
There’s Scott dressing up his burger and then he leans in and attacks the burger with the patent-pending “Turley Bite!”
He said the burger was simply delicious and noted the fries were handcut and not frozen from a bag.
For a side dish I ordered the corn fritters and they did not disappoint!
They were tasty fried orbs, crispy with sweet powdered sugar on the outside and warm and soft on the inside.
A simply sweet beginning to this dinner!
The fried chicken was out-of-this world delicious!
They have a tasty seasoning and the chicken is so plump and juicy! Some of the best I’ve ever had!
What a wonderful dinner!
Check out this episode of “You Gotta Eat” to see more of the food selections in here.
Thanks, as always, to Scott for driving and thinking of this month’s road trip destination! Anxious to do it again next month!
Thanks also to Scott, Pat and everyone at Sheets Creek Saloon for the great service, hospitality and delicious food and drink!
