So in February I decided to start a monthly series where I eat a cookie once a month and review it. I thought it would be fun to do this for 13 months, thereby making this a “baker’s dozen” of cookies.
I had a cookie in February, another in March and then in April and May I completely forgot about this series! So I’m reviving it now and hopefully I’ll remember to keep it going!
This is the third month and for our third cookie, we’re going to a very unique bakery that sells homemade European-styled macaron cookies. The name is, Voila! Macarons and I’ve heard some amazing things about these macaron cookies. So let’s get over there and see what’s happening as we begin the third cookie of the third month of this interrupted series!
Here we are at Voila! Macarons. It’s located in Windsor Square on University, just a few doors down from the Untamed Chef and almost next door to Cullens Classic Barber Shop.
I love the logo!
Wow, it’s a lot bigger inside than I thought it would be.
And have I mentioned I love that logo? Well, I just mentioned it again…so there!
Here’s the pretty owner and chef at Voila! Macarons, Diana Natale.
Diana is originally from Stuttgart, Germany and is now a dual citizen of Germany and the U.S.A. She met her husband in Germany. He is employed by Caterpillar and they got married, have two children and they relocated to Peoria a while ago.
Diana originally worked in the Swiss Banking world and her story is so interesting! When Covid hit, she started baking macarons for her family and friends. This sweet hobby became a passion and she moved from a Farmer’s Market to a shared kitchen and now has her very own storefront and bakery.
She does all the baking and the hours are Thursday through Saturday, 11am to 2pm.
Diana also does a nice catering business and you can call her to have a variety of these unique macaron treats at your next birthday party, wedding, bachelorette party and any kind of social gathering.
She also has box sets and monthly subscription box sets, check out all the information on the website.
Diana is very friendly and fun to talk to!
The kitchen and baking room is in the back and once again, this space is so much bigger than it looks from the outside.
Very impressive!
In addition to the house-baked French macaron cookies, Diana also carries gifts, artwork, jewelry and other fun items.
A good majority of these items are locally made and produced right here in Peoria. When you shop here, you’re definitely supporting our local community.
As I was taking photos, these two women came in and they told Diana that they drove all the way from Springfield just to visit her unique shop and bakery. A friend had told them about it.
Word on Voila! Macarons is spreading fast!
While Diana was busy with the pair from Springfield I went and checked out the macaron cookies.
As you can see, there’s a variety of styles to choose from and they change on a daily basis.
They look simply fabulous!
There’s a dining table here where you can enjoy your macaron cookies, but I thought we’d take our order and head back to MBIP World Headquarters for an official tasting!
Thanks to Diana for the nice conversation and hospitality!
After a two month hiatus, we’re back with our third month and third samplings of local cookies!
I got two cookies and I love how they come in this special box.
Nice presentation and they look so unique and delicious. Let’s try them out!
Wow, these are unbelievable cookies!
I got a Pistachio Macaron and a Cookies and Cream style and they were both so uniquely delicious! The cookies are thick, but small so two cookies doesn’t fill you up, it’s the perfect serving of a cookie.
The cookies are crisp on the outside and have a creamy, sweet and tasty filling on the inside. It’s a wonderful blend of textures, flavors and sweetness!
These are two of the best cookies I’ve ever had in my life and I highly recommend them!
If you haven’t tried these and would like to support a unique and locally made treat, Voila! Macarons is open Thursday through Saturday, 11am to 2pm.
Catering orders are happily taken and you can call the number below for information about that service.
Thanks to Diana for a fun conversation and for the out-of-this-world tasty French Macaron cookies! What a sweet treat for Peoria!
