Last Saturday, the Peoria Book Rack had an event called, Pride Not Prejudice Party in honor of June being Pride Month.
Several local authors were going to be signing books and one of them happens to be a friend and has appeared on this blog more than once.
Who is this mystery author? Well, keep scrolling and you’ll find out!
Here we are at the Book Rack off of Knoxville Avenue. Their story is in the front window and it’s very interesting. The current owner was a customer here years ago and she ended up buying the place!
Hopefully we can meet her on this trip, Time will tell.
Here’s part of the Pride Not Prejudice Party happening out on the front sidewalk of the building.
Let’s go inside and take a look around in here.
Wow, it’s huge inside and there’s thousands of new and used books to check out!
This is quite an overwhelming and remarkable store!
As I walked around i ran into the store owner, Stacy Hardin, pictured on the right here with her mom, Lisa.
Stacy confirmed that she now owns the bookstore after she was a teenage fan of the place years ago. She’s owned the store since 2016.
Talk about a dream come true! How cool!
In addition to the thousands of new and used books in here, there’s also a full line of fun gifts and non-book items such as a wall of fun socks, bags, t-shirts and candles that are made by current owner Stacy and her husband Bob.
Check out the whole line here at their website.
There’s a lot of art in here on the walls and shelves and it’s all done by a local artist by the name of Courtney Bacon-Fulk.
Meanwhile out here at the front sidewalk, the Pride Not Prejudice Party is going strong.
I think I see our mystery author friend down the line over there…
There she is, Tricia A.K.A. P.A. Nimmo who is selling and signing copies of her book, Running Blind in Traffic.
This is her life story and the book was published last year. She’s had local publicity on WEEK TV and the Greg and Dan radio show, plus a book signing at I Know You Like A Book back in January of this year.
Local author Joel Shoemaker was seated next to Tricia and he was selling copies of his two books, Bacon Grieg and Teeth & Crumpets.
I bought a copy of Teeth & Crumpets and Joel signed the copy for me!
Joel’s not only an author, he’s also a magician and a librarian and you can read all about him and his books at his website by clicking here.
While Joel was autographing my book, Tricia was selling and autographing one of her books at the same time!
Here she is with the woman who was buying a copy of Tricia’s book for her daughter Connie in front of the Peoria Book Rack.
Very cool and a fun way to end the day here at this festive Pride celebration at the Peoria Book Rack!
Great to see Tricia and all of the local authors here at this celebration and wonderful to meet the owner of this store, Stacy Hardin!
