Psssst…hey you…yeah you…you want to make the deal of the century? Well, then just follow me, because like the old game show, this deal involves three doors...and no, not those three Doors! Sheesh!
Come on, let’s go to…
Door Number One: 710 W. Main Street, A.K.A. The Costume Trunk!
This business has been thriving in this location since 1981 and now it can be yours!
Let’s go in and I’ll throw out some reasons why this is such a great deal and opportunity for any and all enterprising people out there!
As soon as I walk in, I see a familiar face behind the counter…
It’s the owner of The Costume Trunk, Steve Spain! Steve’s owned and successfully operated The Costume Trunk out of this location since 1981.
Through the years he’s built a steady and large client base in Peoria and beyond. One of the many cool facts about this business is that it’s truly one-of-a-kind shop in the area. There’s really no competition. Steve has working relationships with all the theatre companies, schools and every place that puts on a production!
It’s a business with a built-in client base that comes with a wonderful reputation!
The store is filled with a unique and interesting inventory and if you’ve ever wanted to own your own business, instead of gambling and starting a brand new one, why not buy one that’s been successful since 1981.
There’s no business plan or model to work up and you can glide in here and just keep the engine running. As the old saying goes: “If it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it!”
Steve told me he’d be happy to stick around for awhile and work with a new owner as a consultant and show them the ropes…and plastic chickens and oversized clown shoes.
You even get your very own Costume Trunk clock! Such a deal!
I’ve always loved this Halloween mask display!
There are wigs of many shapes and colors…hey, look at that guy down there…
It’s Sy Sperling from The Hair Club For Men. As this proves, he’s not only the President of the Hair Club For Men, he’s a client!
(Who’d have ever thought that I could work in a Sy Sperling reference in 2023! Sometimes life is kind of magical!)
There’s an article written by Steve Tarter about The Costume Trunk in the PJ Star. It’s titled, “The Man Behind The Masks” and as you can see, there’s still plenty of masks in here!
(On a sidenote: Steve had to sprint in to the paper from their front lawn to get this published. I think we all know by now that you don’t just walk in off the street and write for the PJ Star!)
Ladies and Gentlemen: Steve Spain, the masking pioneer!
While most of us never wore a mask until the pandemic blew into town, Steve’s been masking up since 1981!
And here we are at Door Number Two: 706 W. Main Street: A.K.A. the other half of the Costume Trunk!
The sale includes a whole separate store location and inventory right next door!
And finally, Door Number Three: 708 W. Main Street: A.K.A. Trunk Towers.
The sale of the Costume Trunk also includes four apartments on the second floor of the building.
So this sale includes successful retail and rental spaces with a built-in client base and four apartment rentals on the second floor.
It’s a working, successful, iconic and legendary Peoria business and it’s for sale at a very decent price. Plus Steve will work with new owners so the business doesn’t have any hiccups in the transfer process.
If you want to own your own business, you should definitely give Steve a call at the number below. Tell him you read about it here on the blog and maybe I’ll get a free plastic chicken out of the deal!
