Way back in 2014, I went to my friend Amber’s birthday party and we ended up having a microwave buffet. That started a yearly tradition of celebrating Amber’s birthday in a variety of ways. You can see all of the other times by clicking on the links in the related posts at the end of this post below.
We weren’t sure how we’d celebrate Amber’s birthday this year, seeing that we’re in the middle of this rotten pandemic and it wouldn’t be wise to have a party or go out somewhere. So I thought it might be fun to rent a party bus and have the party on the bus and have the bars and restaurants come to us.
Keep on scrolling and you’ll see what I’m talking about and how we celebrated Amber’s birthday by having a pandemic party bus road trip in this foul year of 2020!
As always, the annual Amber birthday cake was made at Trefzger’s Bakery by my friend and bakery artist, Kayla.
Kayla wasn’t there on Saturday, so these two posed with the cake, but that’s Kayla in the bottom picture looking lovely as always! Thanks for your wonderful and artistic work, Kayla!
Here’s the birthday girl herself, looking pretty as always with her husband, Joe!
I had a special birthday poster made up for this occasion and we also got coasters, stickers and pins made to commemorate this seventh annual birthday extravaganza!
The poster was created and designed by Chelsie Tamms of Lettering Works and it was printed, framed and mounted at Technicraft.
Thanks to Chelsie and everyone at Technicraft for the wonderful work!
Presents!
Here’s Amber opening up her birthday presents. One of them may be a big part of next year’s celebration!
Stay tuned, next year will be here before you know it and hopefully it’ll be a better year than this pandemically-challenged year!
Even though we weren’t going to be going inside anywhere, we took precautions before we ventured outside and put on masks and hazmat suits for this pandemic road trip.
Alright, time to venture outside!
The party bus was rented from Aaron’s Party Bus & Limo Service and our driver for the evening was Terry. This was a perfect sized bus and Terry was a friendly and professional driver.
Okay, let’s hit the road and start this 2020 pandemic road trip!
One of the nice things about a party bus is that you can drink while cruising around. Cheers!
First Stop: Kenny’s Westside Pub
Our first stop of the evening was Kenny’s Westside Pub.
Kenny’s just opened up a spacious outside patio in front of the building. The tables are set up so you can socially distance and have lunch or dinner and drinks while watching the world go by!
I got a photo of four people enjoying this patio experience and you can drink and dine out here from 11am to 4am, seven days a week!
Stop by and enjoy this unique patio party experience in downtown Peoria!
Meanwhile, back on the party bus, John brought our food and drinks aboard.
We got Jameson Lemonade Shake-Up drinks and the first course of the evening was Kenny’s Pretzel Bites with Melted Cheese and their newest sandwich, Sean’s Dublin Dip. It looks amazing!
There’s Amber and Joe enjoying the Jameson shake-up drinks and the pretzel bites and the Dublin Dip sandwich were amazing and tasty!
If you’ve never sampled the food at Kennhy’s Westside Pub you need to get there today and try it out! Plus it’s perfect weather for safe outside patio drinking and dining!
Alright, time to head to the next destination on this pandemic party road trip!
Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern
The second stop was at another downtown Peoria favorite dining and drinking destination, The Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern.
They are open for limited inside dining and they also have a nice area outside underneath a spacious tent for dining and drinking.
We parked and Amber and Joe got out to stretch their legs a little.
Bri brought our second course of food and drinks onto the pandemic party bus and she wished Amber a happy birthday which was nice.
We got a round of their homemade Strapple Shakeups, which are made with their homemade lemonade blended with apple and strawberry whiskey and they were delicious!
Of course we had to get their award-winning chicken wings and the warm bacon potato salad. The food was tasty and fabulous as always!
Another fun stop, but we must keep moving along here!
The next stop is…
Agatucci’s
We parked in the back parking lot of Agatucci’s and our friend Chuck happened to be leaving and stopped by and said hello.
Hello Chuck!
Tony Agatucci brought us the third course of the evening, a wonderful and tasty cheese pizza and Old Fashioned cocktails. He also wished Amber a happy birthday and it was great to see him as always.
I’ve been to Agatucci’s so many times in my life, but this is the first time I’ve eaten a meal in the parking lot!
After we devoured the delicious cheese pizza, Tony brought us another round of drinks for the road!
Our last destination was:
Amber and Joe’s House For Birthday Cake From Trefzger’s
We ended the evening at Amber and Joe’s house and Joe lit up the birthday cake that was designed by Kayla.
It’s a beautiful cake and Kayla did an amazing job as always! The candles represent seven years of celebrating Amber’s birthday!
Happy Birthday, Amber! This was the most fun I’ve had all year and proof that you can have a blast, even in the middle of a pandemic!
Thanks to Kenny’s Westside Pub, Blue Duck Barbecue Tavern and Agatucci’s for the fabulous food and drinks and for playing along with us! And thanks to Kayla and Trefzger’s Bakery for the delicious birthday cake! Thanks also to Chelsie Tamms from Lettering Works for the beautiful poster and to Technicraft for printing it up and framing it!
And thanks to Terry for driving us around and he did a fantastic job. If you’d like to have an evening like this, just contact Aaron’s Party Bus & Limousine Service!
