Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out starring this week’s host, Kenny’s Westside Pub and featuring special guest star, Jaime, behind the bar.
Now please welcome all the way from beautiful downtown Peoria, Kenny’s Westside Pub!
Here we are at Kenny’s Westside Pub on Jefferson Avenue in downtown Peoria. There’s a good selection of tables here on the sidewalk and indoor dining is available as well.
I have to do take-out until the end of this pandemic, per doctor’s orders, so let’s go in and pick up this week’s meal.
It’s looking good in here, it’s late afternoon, so not much of a crowd yet. I’m doing my Saturday night dinners at odd times so I can avoid people.
There’s tables up front for dining and booths line the walls in the back.
In the very back are the gaming machines if you feel lucky…well, do ya punk?
And of course since it’s 2020, there’s hand sanitizing stations.
While there’s still open mic night here, there hasn’t been live bands yet. So I thought we’d take a trip back to the the year of 2017, when no one had heard of Covid 19 and I went to a live show at Kenny’s Westside Pub.
Here I am walking through the doors to the stage area and I ran into the owner and operator of Kenny’s, Sean Kenny! Always great to see him and catch up on things!
These are tough times for bars and restaurants, so stop by, have a drink, have dinner or get some take-out to help support Kenny’s Westside Pub.
Shopping and eating locally is more important than ever!
And now, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Lark’s Tongue to the fantastically lit stage at Kenny’s Westside Pub!
Lark’s Tongue @ Kenny’s Westside Pub - 2017
Lark’s Tongue put on a fabulous show that night. There were two other bands on the bill and you can see the entire MBIP link by clicking here.
And Now…Back To The Present
Okay, back to the present and let’s mosey over to the bar and pick up this week’s Saturday Night take-out dinner!
And right on cue, here’s Jaime with this week’s dinner. She’s looking cute in that colorful mask!
Jaime told me the reason for the unique spelling of her name is because her parents named her after the Bionic Woman! So don’t mess with Jaime, there’s power in that name!
Through the magic of the internet, we’re back in the official Kitchen and Tasting Area of MBIP World Headquarters.
As always, we’ll start the meal off by opening up a tallboy of Bud Light. Cheers!
I got a three-course take-out meal consisting of the Westside Pretzels & Cheese, Spicy Sweet Chili Wings and the Hand Pounded Tenderloin.
Let’s crack open these boxes and let the Saturday night feast begin!
I love the Westside Pretzels and Cheese and thought we’d start the dinner off by sampling some of them. The cheese sauce is always rich and creamy and I thought I’d add some hot sauce to give it a little extra zing!
This are crispy on the outside and soft as you bite into them. The hot sauce added some kick to the rich and creamy cheese sauce and we’re off to a tasty start for this Saturday night dinner!
I got the Spicy Sweet Chili Wings and they were flavorful with equal parts heat and sweet. Now it’s on to the main course!
I got the Hand Pounded Tenderloin and a side of the Black and Tan Onion Rings. It looks and smells simply amazing!
At Kenny’s you have the option of adding cheese, so I did and also got it topped with onion slices.
I dressed the sandwich up with sweet and spicy mustard, BBQ sauce and Chipotle sauce, that came with the dinner. This is going to be one saucy sandwich!
I started off by dipping one of the onion rings in the BBQ sauce, very tasty!
Wow, this tenderloin is beyond fantastic!
Peoria is a tenderloin town and if you haven’t tried Kenny’s Hand Pounded Tenderloin you’re missing out on one of the best tenderloin sandwiches in Peoria and beyond.
There’s a reason that it was the co-winner of the areas best tenderloin back when we had the MBIP Tenderloin Tour. Click here and scroll down to see the winning tenderloin from Kenny’s way back in 2014.
This was a fantastic three-course meal from Kenny’s Westside Pub!
I started the meal off with an appetizer of the Westside Pretzels and Cheese. These are crispy pretzel nuggets that are pillowy soft inside and the rich and creamy cheese sauce compliments them perfectly. And they go great with beer!
Kenny’s is famous for their different styles of chicken wings (they have a dozen homemade sauces to choose from.) This week I went with the Spicy Sweet Chili and they were so tasty. The wings were plump and juicy and the sauce was spicy and sweet and had a fabulous flavor.
For the main course, I got the legendary Hand Pounded Tenderloin, which is a popular and signature sandwich at Kenny’s.
I got it topped with cheese and added mustard, BBQ and Chipotle sauce and this sandwich is like biting into a tasty slice of heaven! It’s nice and crispy on the outside and thick and juicy inside. The tenderloin itself is savory and loaded with flavor and the sauces and cheese took it over the top and all the way to the moon. And the secret ingredient that really added substance to the sandwich was the bakery-fresh bun!
This is my favorite tenderloin in Peoria and if you stop by and try it out, I can almost guarantee, it’ll be yours too!
Kenny’s Kitchen is open from 11am to 4am, seven days a week, so stop by for lunch and you may just find yourself coming back for dinner and a midnight munchies snack!
