I thought for this week’s Social Distance Sunday we’d take a trip down to Peoria’s Riverfront and wander around. So that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
Let’s hit the road to downtown Peoria and prepare to wander! (Cue up The Happy Wanderers!)
Here we are at the beautiful and majestic Peoria RiverFront. And how do I know I’m really here, well there’s this sign that tells me so.
I thought we’d begin this Peoria RiverFront afternoon with a sweet ice cream treat from Emack & Bolio’s!
As I entered I met Jack behind the counter and ordered up an Original Oreo cone.
I like the colorful ice cream mural on the wall opposite the front counter. Jack scooped up the cone and there he is presenting it to me.
There’s a dining area in the back, but I thought we’d head on out and enjoy the tasty ice cream as we wander around on the Peoria RiverFront, so let’s go!
There’s the cone in all its colorful glory with the Peoria RiverFront as a backdrop. Sweet!
As I was taking this photo, I heard someone calling my name from the parking lot…
I looked over and saw it way my friends, Kevin and Lauren! They came down to take a ride on the Spirit of Peoria.
Those of you who read the blog regularly know Kevin from the Castle’s Patio Inn posts. He said that right now he’s not working and they’re just selling cheese out of Castle’s Patio Inn. Barb Castle, who owns the place is looking to sell it and hopefully she’ll find a buyer to kep this iconic Peoria bar and restaurant in business.
You can read more about the future of Castle’s Patio Inn in this column by Phil Luciano in the PJ Star.
Great to see both of them!
I watched Kevin and Lauren get on the Spirit of Peoria and there she goes off for the afternoon scenic trip. If you want to go for a cruise, here’s the schedule.
This ice cream cone is delicious, by the way!
There’s a shot of the Murray Baker Bridge. Okay, let’s walk down the strip and take some more shots.
For the record, the ice cream cone is officially halfway done.
As promised, some shots of the Illinois River on a lovely Sunday afternoon.
I’m not sure, but I think this is a mini tribute to Stonehenge.
Someone cue up Spinal Tap, please and thank you!
I’m all done with the ice cream cone, so it’s time to officially end this edition of Social Distant Sunday on the Peoria RiverFront. We’ll see you all tomorrow!
