I just wanted to do something fairly easy for this week’s Marty Meal. So I thought I’d make a ham and cheese sandwich. Then I realized, I’ve never baked a sandwich in my life. So that’s exactly what we’re going to do today.
Okay, let’s get cooking!
Ingredients, from left: Green Giant Riced Cauliflower, Sweet Hot Mister Mustard, Velveeta Jalapeno Slices, French Baguettes and Pecanwood Smoked Brown Sugar Ham.
There’s also a jar of mushrooms, but I ended up not using them.
I’ll also use seasonings already stored in the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area.
And of course, the most important ingredient, a Bud Light tallboy. Cheers!
We’ll start off by slicing one of the baguettes in half.
Then we’ll add slices of the smoked ham and Velveeta Jalapeno slices to each side of the baguette.
The oven is pre-heated to 450 degrees and I’ve put the sandwich in a foil dome. Into the oven it goes!
We’ll nuke the riced cauliflower for five minutes. Hmmm, what in the world should we do while that’s microwaving?
Oh, I know, we’ll have another beer! Cheers!
The riced cauliflower is done, but I want to take it to another level. It’s got broccoli in it and a cheese sauce, but like my humor, I want it to be cheesier.
So I transferred it to a pan and added three slices of the Velveeta Jalapeno Cheese and melted it in the riced cauliflower.
Let’s add some seasoning to the mixture for a little zing! I keep forgetting to get hot sauce, so I added chili powder for heat, black pepper and mustard powder.
It’s really tasty! I was going to add the mushrooms, but I like it just like this. We’ll use those mushrooms later.
Okay, it’s out of the oven, now for the moment of truth, what will this baked sandwich look like?
It looks and smells fantastic!
I’m going to slather a generous amount of the Sweet Hot Mister Mustard to the incredible looking sandwich and then it’s time to plate up this week’s Marty Meal!
We’ll start off with the side dish. This was an unexpected treat! It’s really rich and creamy! I’m glad I didn’t put the mushrooms in it, it’s perfect just like this!
I put it in a cup because it’s fun to eat food out of a cup. Try it sometime, you’ll see what I mean.
And now…it’s Sandwich time!
This was such a tasty and delicious sandwich! The bun is soft and it’s almost like it was steamed. The ham cheese and mustard are flavorful, rich and savory.
It’s a very satisfying sandwich and I’m going to bake more sandwiches from here on in!
Last week someone left a nice anonymous comment suggesting that my “women only” pictorials might alienate some people. It was nicely worded, so I’m taking this person’s advice and just have pictures of men and women.
In honor of this baked sandwich, this week’s titillating photo montage is People Getting Baked! Enjoy!
Whew, I’ve got a contact high! Let your Freak Flag fly and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
