Live, from Peoria Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out, starring this week’s host, Ming Shee.
Now, please welcome one of Peoria’s oldest and most beloved Chinese restaurants, Ming Shee!
While most restaurants and bars have re-opened here in Illinois, I’m going to continue getting take-out meals for my Saturday Night dinner. Some of you that follow the blog know that I had open heart surgery a while ago and my doctor has advised me to stay away from bars and restaurants until this pandemic is over.
So I’m going to support local bars and restaurants by getting take-out meals until there’s a vaccine for this virus.
I was planning on taking some inside shots here at Ming Shee, but as I looked into the window I discovered that they haven’t opened up for inside dining yet.
The pick-up window is over here. You push the bell for service, so that’s what I did. A woman came and I told her my name and she said it would be a few minutes until my order was ready.
She also declined to have her picture taken. Hey it happens, we’ll just keep moving along here.
While we wait for the. food order, I’ll put up some shots of the inside dining room from a post from the past.
Here’s some photos from a lunch I had in here over seven years ago.
Seven years ago? As I always say, fun flies when you’re having time! Here’s the link to the original post from my lunch I had in here in 2013.
Here’s the meal in the MBIP Mobile.
That custom mask is a birthday gift from my niece Mary. Thanks, Mary!
And through the magic of the interwebs, here we are back at the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area.
We’ll start the meal off with a giganzo can of Bud Light. Cheers!
I got a three course Chinese meal and the first course is an appetizer of Crab Rangoon. They were crispy on the outside and inside was a rich and creamy crab concoction that was simply delicious.
A wonderful start to this Saturday night take-out dinner!
When I was looking at their menu online, I was surprised to see Buffalo Wings on the appetizer menu. I’ve never seen a Chinese restaurant that serves Buffalo Wings, so I ordered them and they look and smell fabulous!
I ordered these wondering how a Chinese restaurant’s take on Buffalo wings would be and the answer is that they make some of the best Buffalo wings I’ve ever had! This was a delicious surprise!
The wings were plump and juicy and the Buffalo wing sauce was spicy and really tasty! These were some of the best wings I’ve ever had! If you’re a Buffalo chicken wing eater, you need to try these out!
For the main course I ordered the Peanut Butter Chicken Combo. This dish is strips of breaded chicken cooked in a peanut butter sauce and served with chicken fried rice. As you can see, it looks amazing!
I added some soy sauce and this dish is so tasty!
The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy and tender inside. The peanut butter sauce gives it a sweet flavor but there’s also a hint of spice flavor happening. And the fried rice was delicious and complimented the chicken perfectly.
This was a wonderful meal and a testament to why Ming Shee has been a beloved Peoria restaurant for over 35 years!
And of course we’ll end the meal with a Fortune Cookie.
Okay, this makes no sense and my mind is blown! I think this was meant for Bono!
