I’ve sampled a lot of cheeseburgers through the years, in fact I started my Saturday Night Cheeseburger series way back when I was doing my 365 bar crawl blog in New York City.
Here’s a link to the very first Saturday Night Cheeseburger post from April 4th, 2010 at The Stoned Crow bar in Greenwich Village. That was over a decade ago and I’ve devoured a lot of cheeseburgers since then.
One of my favorite cheeseburgers here in Peoria was served up over seven years ago at The Silver Dollar Tavern in Peoria Heights. Let’s go back in time and revisit this cheesy memory!
Here we are at The Silver Dollar Tavern, one of Peoria Heights’ oldest bars. It’s been standing tall on this block for close to 60 years.
When I sat down, I thought the bartender looked familiar and it turned out it was Mary, who years ago posed for our winter swimsuit issue of POP magazine! She told me the picture from that issue was on the bulletin board opposite the bar!
That sure brought back a lot of memories and nice to see that the magazine is still remembered in here! It was great to see Mary and catch up with her after all these years!
I was also pleased to see Captain Jinks and Salty Sam represented here at the bar!
Meanwhile, back at the bar, the condiments have been delivered, the cheeseburger can’t be far behind!
And whoomp, there it is! What a delicious looking cheeseburger!
This is one of the best cheeseburgers in Peoria and on planet Earth!
It’s a half pound burger with melted cheddar cheese and I got mine topped with thick smokey bacon and grilled onions.
The burger is seared crispy on the outside and juicy and savory when you take a delicious bite. The bun is toasted, buttered and bakery fresh.
This is truly a magnificent cheeseburger! It’s definitely Wimpy worthy!
