I first tried chicken and waffles at Sylvia’s soul food restaurant in Harlem when I was doing my 365 bar crawl blog in New York City. I fell in love with them and last year when I was doing my 13 months of chicken tour, I did a mini tour within that food tour seeking out places in Peoria that have chicken and waffles on the menu.
I found a few places in Peoria that serve up this dish, but only one features chicken and waffles as a sandwich.
And it’s not only a sandwich, it’s a spicy sandwich! Let’s take a look at this unique sandwich that’s only available at W.E. Sullivan’s in Peoria Heights!
Here we are at W.E. Sullivan’s, I went there with my friends Amber and Joe.
There it is on the menu.
As you can see, it’s a deep fried buttermilk marinated chicken breast covered in sriracha jack cheese and topped with lettuce, tomato and sriracha mayo and it’s served on a homemade maple waffle. That sounds absolutely delicious!
Here it is, served up in all its glory!
Chicken sandwiches are a common thing, but at W.E. Sullivan’s they’ve made a chicken sandwich that’s anything but common.
The chicken breast is crispy and juicy and the spicy cheese and mayo are the perfect yin to the sweet waffle’s yang.
You won’t find this unique waffle sandwich anywhere else but at W.E. Sullivan’s and they’re open for lunch today, so I suggest you get the hell over there and try one out right now!
