Last Thursday, September 26, 2019 marked the 50th anniversary of the release of the last album The Beatles ever recorded, “Abbey Road.”
In honor of this 50th anniversary of this classic and final album by the Fabulous Four, I’ve got six links to various online articles about Abbey Road.
And then there’s the MBIP Coming Attractions about what’s happening at the blog this week!
The Beatles Bible: Abbey Road - This lists all of the credits and has quotes about the album from producer George Martin, George Harrison and Paul McCartney.
50 years of Abbey Road: 50 facts you might not know about The Beatles’ seminal album - I didn’t know a lot of these, very interesting!
‘Abbey Road’ Album Cover: Behind The Beatles’ Most Famous Photograph - Behind the album cover…that would be an interesting topic for all albums!
“Abbey Road” The Original Rolling Stone Review - The original 1969 Rolling Stone review by John Mendelsohn. Notice his sneaky mention of the hidden closing track, “Her Majesty.”
Beatles’ epic ‘Abbey Road’ remains the greatest mic drop in pop music history, 50 years later - This article reveals that Rolling Stone had another review in addition to the one above. Critic Ed Ward described the album as “a rather tenuous line between boredom, Beatledom, and bubblegum.” I have no idea what Ed Ward is doing these days, but I’m guessing he may be saying the following words: “Would you like some fries with that?”
Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney Reunite at Abbey Road to Honor 50th Anniversary of Beatles’ Album - The remaining Fab Two reunite for the anniversary of Abbey Road. The article also reveals that McCartney and Starr have recorded a song together with Joe Walsh for an album by Ringo that’s going to be released at the end of October.
Monday: Tin Lizard is the newest pub/restaurant at the Par•A•Dice Hotel and Casino in East Peoria and I had my Saturday night dinner there last night. Tune in Monday to see photos of the pub and what I had for dinner.
Tuesday: I have a special announcement on Tuesday and since there’s no more coming attractions, you can probably guess what it is!
Okay, I’m going to go start putting tomorrow’s blog together and rehearse for the upcoming Marty Monologues show! Have a beautiful and fun Sunday!
