The Panaderia Ortiz Bakery has a Spanish-styled sandwich that is called a “Torta.”
I went there and met Erik Reader to sample this unique sandwich on January 17, 2017 and below are some photos from this post.
Here we are Pat Panaderia Ortiz Bakery, Peoria’s only authentic Mexican bakery on Monroe Street in downtown Peoria.
The owners of Panaderia Ortiz Bakery are the husband and wife team of Maria and Bernardo. They’re friendly and welcoming to all who enter this charming bakery.
Here’s Bernardo making the Mexican Torta sandwich back in the kitchen of the bakery.
And here he is serving up the finished product, this week’s sandwich under the spotlight!
This is such a tasty and unique Spanish-styled Mexican sandwich!
It’s a chicken and chorizo Torta and it’s got a nice spicy flavor to it.
There’s jalapeños that add some heat and that’s balanced out by the lettuce and sour cream it’s topped off with.
And the bread is baked fresh daily. It’s a taste sensation and a sandwich that can only be had at Panaderia Ortiz Bakery in downtown Peoria!
And when you finish the sandwich, there’s plenty of sweet treats to sample at the bakery for dessert!
