Tomorrow’s Thanksgiving and if you haven’t gotten your turkey, you’re in luck, Yordy Turkey Farm in Morton is open today and they have plenty of turkeys even if you’re a walk-in customer. In fact we’re going to walk in there in a few minutes and all you have to do is keep on scrolling down!
Before we head over to Morton, let’s travel back in time and look at a few vintage Yordy Turkey Farm photos!
1. This is the turkey farm back in 1940. The Yordy family started the farm back in 1930 with just 50 turkeys!
2. The founder of the Yordy Turkey Farm, Robert Yordy enjoying a turkey dinner in 1940.
3. A shot of the inside of the Yordy house with people picking up turkeys in 1950.
4. This is a shot of turkeys from 1980.
Okay, time to get back to the present and travel over to Morton and visit…
The Yordy Turkey Farm! There’s a truck over to the left side of the house, let’s go check that out.
It’s the Faire Coffee truck and check out the variety of drinks on the menu!
That’s the owner, Emily on the right with her brother Ethan on the left. She told me she started the coffee truck last year and it’s been going great for her.
Check out the dates of where she’ll be on the Faire Coffee facecrack page.
Okay, it’s time to step inside the turkey store at the Yordy Turkey Farm.
I love the log cabin atmosphere in here. As you can see from the menus, they have whole turkeys and also breasts, drumsticks, thighs, giblets and a whole lot more.
There’s a fire blazing over on the side wall. This place really gets you in the holiday mood!
They have all kinds of condiments, jams and jellies to compliment your Thanksgiving feast!
I met two members of the Yordy family, Christine and Avery while snapping photos. They took me outside to one of the storage units and showed me the large inventory of turkeys.
Avery is holding a brand new item that they’re selling here now, Yordy Farms Ground Turkey. He gave me a pack to sample back at the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen!
Here it is and check out the label, “Prepared Especially For MBIP!” Very cool! I’ve decided to put this to the ultimate turkey burger taste test.
I’m going to make a burger out this and not season it with anything. Let’s see what kind of taste this ground turkey has all on its own!
I’ve formed the patty and placed it in a pre-heated pan.
And this is the moment I’ve been waiting for—I’m literally flipping the bird!
Yes, I’m easily amused!
I’ve plated it with a side dish of carrots. This is quite a healthy lunch!
Okay, time to try the Yordy unseasoned turkey burger!
Wow, it’s really tasty all on its own. Sometimes turkey burgers are bland, but this is really flavorful and delicious!
After the first taste, I added some spicy mustard and this is the best turkey burger I’ve ever had!
Thanks to Christine and Avery for the tour and the ground turkey!
Happy Pre-Thanksgiving, everyone! Gobble, gobble and gobble!
