I try to steer away from politics here on the blog, but watching the Trump impeachment hearings last week made me think of Watergate and of the book and film, “All The President’s Men.”
I loved that movie and so below I’ve put up six links to online articles about it, plus a bonus link to a chapter from my book, The Boy Who Would Be A Fire Truck about when I met Carl Bernstein, who is one half of the duo that brought Richard Nixon down all those years ago!
And then there’s the MBIP Coming Attractions for next week here on the blog!
All the President’s Men: An Oral History - This is a great and interesting oral history of the film and how it got made.
William Goldman Turned Reporters Into Heroes In “All the President’s Men” - William Goldman wrote the script to the movie and died in 2018. This is a feature about how he wrote the script and a tribute to the screenwriter of the film.
13 Investigative Facts About All The President’s Men - I didn’t know most of these facts, very interesting!
Robert Redford Revisits ‘All The President’s Men’ - This is a nice question and answer interview with Robert Redford about the film.
Deep Throat: Watergate timeline of events - Here’s a timeline of how Watergate went down.
GOP Security Aide Among 5 Arrested in Bugging Affair - This is the first article about Watergate written by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein for the Washington Post. This article started it all!
Bonus Link! The Day I Met Carl Bernstein
I met Carl Bernstein back in the ’90’s when I was living in New York. Here’s a link to that story on Google Books!
Monday: This year marks the 25th anniversary of Ludy’s Kickapoo Creek Saloon. I stopped by last night and had one of their legendary cheeseburgers and gave them a 25th anniversary present. Tune in tomorrow to check out this festive post!
Tuesday: It’s our 51st week in the MBIP chicken tour and we absent-mindedly went back to a place we’ve already gone to on the tour! Oh well, at least it was a different night and it was their fried chicken special evening.
Wednesday: I’m visiting Peoria’s three Kings and dropping off crowns for them. This should be interesting!
Thursday: I’ll be preparing another Thursday Minute Marty Meal and I think this week we’ll try out Cheeseburger Tacos. I need to think of a side dish for this, so tune in to see what I prepare!
Friday: We’ll continue eating the McDonald’s menu and this week we’ll be sampling the McGriddle family of breakfast sandwiches.
Saturday: We’re going to feature yet another sandwich from Peoria in our weekly Sandwiches of Peoria feature.

48 Words - 48 Poems - 48 Weeks: Week Number Two
Here’s the second poem I created using the 48 Words tablet created by my friend Joe Freedman from Sarabande Press.
The Sweetest Thing By Marty Wombacher (With Help From Emily Dickinson And Joe Freedman)
—That
Sea of words
sings
the sweetest thing —
Hope,
without stops.
