Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night starring this week’s host, Peoria Pizza Works with special guest stars The Lock And Key Sideshow! Now, please welcome this week’s host, Peoria Pizza Works!
Okay, it’s a special Saturday Night tonight because we’re not only going to have a Saturday night dinner, we’re also going to a Saturday Night show. The Lock And Key Sideshow are a troupe of professional sideshow entertainers that formed in 2016. I’ve been wanting to see one of their shows and tonight is the night! I used to love going to Coney Island and seeing the sideshow acts there, so I’m anxious to see a slice of that entertainment right here in Peoria! Let’s go inside and let Saturday night begin!
Peoria Pizza Works has been operating in this location since 1974. In addition to great pizza, sandwiches and pasta, they also have live music and specialty entertainment like tonight’s show. There’s the owner, Gary, with two of the pretty ladies working behind the bar tonight!
We’re going to have to eat kind of quickly tonight because the show starts soon, so I ordered a sandwich and as I was looking for a place to sit, I saw a familiar face in the crowd! It’s Tanya, who we met when we did the Shop Hop at Lost and Found Again! She was there with Leroy and they invited me to sit at their table so that’s exactly what I did! And there’s Tammy with the sandwich I ordered, talk about great service with a pretty smile! Tammy's been on the blog before and it was great to see her again!
I got the Hot Sicilian and it looks fantastic! It’s baked pepperoni and ham with fresh mozzarella cheese melted on top. It’s served on French bread with a homemade marinara sauce and there’s pasta and chips on the side. The sandwich was really tasty and I wolfed it down quickly because I hadn’t eaten all day. It was a wonderful pre-show dinner!
And speaking of the show, I ran into Hexli at the bar. Hexli’s the Ring Mistress of the Lock And Key Sideshow and she said the troupe was getting ready in the show room and I was welcome to go back and get some pre-show photos. So I went through the room next to the dining room past the classic shuffleboard table and there’s the door to the show room, let’s go inside and see what’s happening in here!
Here’s the various members of the Lock And Key Sideshow getting ready for tonight’s show! As you can see, it looks like it’s going to be a fun and lively show. I love all the makeup and costumes and the effort that’s going into tonight’s show! Shortly after I took these photos, they opened the doors and...
The place started filling up with people who came to see the show. They really had a nice crowd show up and it’s great to see Peoria supporting this kind of entertainment that you don’t get to see every night! That’s Tannen in the second to the last photo and he's the emcee for the show tonight. Okay, it’s showtime!
Tannen started off the show and brought Ring Mistress Hexli out on the stage. Hexli spoke briefly about the troupe and the show and then she promptly...
Took out a giant hammer and nail and quickly hammered it into her left nostril! Ouch! It was a fantastic start to the show and I wish I could’ve captured everything, but it moved so fast that was impossible. So here’s some of the highlights via the MBIP Camera!
There was crowd interaction with a magic act, fire and an onstage operation that took a lot of guts to perform! After a half a dozen acts performed there was a raffle and a brief intermission.
Then the show resumed with a candle and mask performance, a human circus chimp with an impressive hula hoop spinning act, crazy confetti and Hexli performing on a bed of broken glass. There was a lot more to the show than I could catch with my camera because it moved so fast. It was highly entertaining and I guarantee this is the only troupe performing stunts and sideshow acts like this in town! You can follow their facecrack page for upcoming performances. You can also book the troupe for private parties and shows and the information for that can be found by clicking right here.
Ring Mistress Hexli brought out the troupe for a bow at the end of the show! The troupe includes Hexli, Matchstick Merryweather, Tally Ho, Vesuvius, Edie Le’Cont, Lunival Lusion and Tally Ho. This was a wonderful show and I highly suggest you attend an upcoming performace! And thanks to Peoria Pizza Works for hosting the show and for a great dinner! We’ll see you all tomorrow!
