What I Did Over My Winter Break. (I’m Back…)

by MBIP

Okay, I’m back with a quickety-blickety blog today, then a big announcement tomorrow and back to daily postings on Monday!

I decided to spend Christmas week in New York City. I’ve never been in New York on Christmas Day and so that’s exactly what I did!

I flew into the city on Monday December 22nd and came home the following Monday on December 29th.

I decided to have a true vacation and not document every stinking detail and in fact I hardly took any pictures while I was there and it was really nice to be totally off the clock!

Below are the few photos I took during my week there.

Here’s my hotel room. I stayed at the Maritime Hotel on 16th Street near Ninth Avenue and it was really nice and I got a decent daily rate out of them.

The room was bigger than I expected and I was on the fourth floor. The hotel was quiet, the service was great and I enjoyed my stay there.

Here’s the room’s mini-bar. You never want to drink anything in here because they will charge you a fortune. Plus in New York you can buy booze up till around 4am!

However a box on the right end caught my eye…

It’s a Temptation Lover’s Kit and immediately after seeing that name, I thought of this Saturday Night Live skit!

Couple’s Vibrating Ring? What the fuck is that, some app you download on your phone? You can read all about the company that produces this fine hotel mini-bar product by clicking here.

Okay, I took these photos when I checked in on Monday afternoon and then didn’t take anymore till the following Saturday.

In that time I wandered around the city, met friends for drinks and dinner, enjoyed going to some bars and chatting with people on Christmas day and just messing around.

I had dinner with friends on Friday night and it started snowing pretty heavily after we finished our dinner. I went back to my hotel room early and then the next day I got up to a snowy New York City.

I hadn’t seen snow in New York since the winter of 2011-12, which was my last winter there, so I was anxious to see the city covered in snow. I decided this would be a good time to take a few photos and so here we go!

Here’s a snowy section of a park that was down the street from my hotel.

Someone’s got some scraping to do! Oh well, that’s your fault for having a car in New York City, walk or take the subway, asshole!

Here’s a shot up Eighth Avenue on this snowy morning. I will say, the city looks nice covered in snow, even though I’m not really a snow kind of guy.

Even the ever-present piles of garbage on the sidewalks look a little nicer covered in snow.

Here’s a big pile of the white stuff with a row of snow mobiles on the other side of the street.

The thing with snow in New York, though, is that after about five hours…

It turns into a brown, gloppy mess! At least by Sunday all the sidewalks were cleared off!

I flew back on Monday, December 29 and cleaned my apartment and started working on the blog again. And now, here we are, together again!

Oh and thanks to Chad Wallace and Dan2 for keeping the comments section alive while I was gone! I enjoyed each and every one of them and I’m sure others did as well! Thanks for keep the blog fresh in my absence!

Speaking of the blog, that Big Announcement I promised is coming tomorrow! Changes are going to be happening here and tune in to find out what they are!

Something old and something new is coming to MBIP!

Great to be back, thanks, as always, for reading and we’ll see you tomorrow with the big, honking announcement!
