Okay, this is crazy, at least for me, but next Friday, October 11, is the 50th anniversary of the premiere of Saturday Night Live. I was a junior in high school back then and I remember parties revolving around watching this show, because if you missed it back in those pre-YouTube days, you thought you might never see it.
In honor of this anniversary, below are a half a dozen SNL links and a video link to George Carlin remembering hosting the first show and a link to one of my all-time favorite sketches.

MBIP Coming Attractions
Monday: I went with my friends Moon and Jim to Peoria’s newest tavern and eating establishment on Farmington Road, Duck’s. We had a fun evening there and I’ve got pictures to prove it at tomorrow’s post!
Tuesday: I had requests to stop at Bartonville’s Dream Hut for a chili-cheese dog, so this week I honored those requests and stopped by and had a wonderful lunch!
Wednesday: I went to the Jim Henson Exhibition at the Peoria Riverfront Museum and it was amazing. You can see the photos this Wednesday!
Thursday: I’ll have an update and three paragraphs from my forthcoming book, “Confessions of a Spiteful Writer” this Thursday.
Friday/Saturday: I’ll be taking these two days off to work on that aforementioned book, but I’ll have “Best Of MBIP” updates on facecrack and Twitter, so there!
