This week we’re grilling up a turkey drumstick along with a twice-baked potato.
But before you think I’m over-achieving here, the turkey drumstick is already cooked and the twice-baked potato was already made when I bought it.
But I will be putting my own twist on both items, so now there’s nothing left to say but…let’s cook!
Here’s the turkey drumsticks. It doesn’t really translate in the photo, but these things are huge! I mean we’re talking King Arthur style here!
I’m only going to cook one and we’ll freeze the other for a later date.
I’m going to add some sauces for it to marinade in overnight.
We’re adding generous amounts of Jorghi’s Habanero Barbecue Sauce, Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce, Sandwich Pal Jalapeno Mustard and Mike’s Hot Honey.
I’m really excited about the Mike’s Hot Honey and I added the whole jar of that.
I was poking some holes in the drumstick, when I realized I was going to have to rethink this bowl idea.
Only the very top is going to be standing in the marinade, it should be laying flat. Time to improvise!
Luckily I had this foil pan, I laid it in there and transferred the marinade to that pan. I’ll just turn it a couple times through the evening.
Okay, it’s all covered up and into the fridge it goes!
Goodnight Mr. Turkey Drumstick. Sleep tight and don’t think about the fact that tomorrow you’re going to get grilled and eaten. Sweet dreams!

The Next Day
Alright another day, same turkey drumstick, except now it’s a well marinated drumstick!
I turned it several times through the evening and now I’m going to put it on the grill on a low heat. It’s already cooked, so we just want to slow cook it and let that marinade really get infused.
I’m going to let it cook for about an hour…hmm…what to do with this time…oh, I know, we’ll have a beer!
Cheers everyone and here’s the view from my balcony where I sit and watch Peoria roll on down the road!
Okay, time to get the twice baked potato going. I got this the same place I got the giganzo turkey drumstick, at Alwan and Sons Meat Co.
It looks really good, but I’m a little kerfuffled about the cooking time, the range they give is “20 to 30 minutes.” That’s a ten minute guessing game there! Oh well, I’ll just keep my eye on it.
Okay we’ve slid it into the oven and now let’s go check on Mr. Turkey Drumstick!
Wow, Mr. Drumstick looks and smells fabuloso!
I took him out of the pan and will let him sear a few minutes on the rack of the grill.
While the drumstick is searing I took the twice baked potato out and added some black pepper and topped it off with a dollop of Pickapeppa Sauce which is an all-purpose Jamaican condiment sauce.
I now present, this week’s grilled dinner, a giganzo turkey drumstick and a twice baked potato!
Let’s dig in!
Wow, this twice baked potato is delicious!
In addition to the creamy and buttery potatoes it’s topped with cheese, bacon and green onions. Really delicious and a wonderful start to the meal.
Now on to the star of the show, the giganzo, marinated grilled turkey drumstick.
Wow, this is so tender, juicy and flavorful!
The meat is succulent and savory and there’s an underlying heat and sweet aspect to it from the Mike’s Hot Honey sauce in the marinade.
The skin is crispy outside and it’s fall off the bone tender inside.
This was a grilled flavor sensation and something really different!
For dessert I got a little tub of Häagen-Dazs Caramel Cone ice cream. I let it sit out for a while and it was a melty sweet treat.
A real happy ending to a delicious grilled dinner!
