Do you know what time it is? It’s time for lunch and we’re headed off to one of my favorite Peoria places, Jack’s On Adams and we’re meeting a special guest star that I don’t really know. Intrigued? Well then keep on scrolling!
Here we are at Jack’s On Adams.
Check out the new signage and the beer patio is looking good. We’ll get another shot of this from the inside.
Okay, let’s go in and start this week’s luncheon post!
It’s a little after 1pm, so most of the luncheon crowd has come and gone, but a few people still are hanging out in here.
And one of these people is the owner of Jack’s, Jack Berres, always great to see him and he told me things are going great in here. That’s always wonderful to hear!
Jack turned the tables on me and had me pose with the women working behind the bar.
From left: Kari, Yours Fooly, Corina and Austyn.
There’s the dining room, the stage where the live music happens and the outdoor shot of the front beer patio I promised earlier!
Here’s the gaming room for all of you gamblers out there. Jack’s has a half dozen gaming machines and Jack said there’s been a lot of winners in here.
Here’s two shots from both sides of the L-shaped bar.
I love the Peoria Proud wall which promotes local businesses here in Peoria.
And now the empty guest star seat has been filled!
This is this week’s guest star, writer Tom Arbogast. Tom’s doing research for a book he’s working on about the history of WWCT radio. He contacted me on facecrack concerning an article I wrote about the legendary WWCT morning duo, Lylte and Lamb.
Plus back in the day I was a guest on their show, the Dwyer and Michaels Show, Jamie Markley’s afternoon show and Dan Conlin also interviewed me on that station back in the day.
We had a nice conversation about the legendary rock ‘n roll station here in Peoria.
Here’s the story I wrote about the WWCT morning show, Lytle and Lamb for the Pekin Daily Times back in 1992.
Here’s Kari delivering our appetizer order of the Jackd Up Shrimp
This is lightly breaded, deep-fried shrimp and then coated liberally in Jackd Up Sweet Honey Sauce.
This is such a delicious appetizer and it just may be my favorite thing of all the delicious items on Jack’s On Adams menu.
Tom got a sausage pizza and I got the Lou Burger with a side of Cole Slaw.
Everything looks delicious and Tom raved about the pizza which I’ve had can agree that it’s some of the best pizza in Peoria!
I haven’t had the Lou Burger which looks simply amazing!
It’s a double smash-styled cheeseburger and I to it with lettuce, onion and Pepperjack Cheese on a toasted bun.
I also added a healthy dollop of mustard to this fabulous looking cheeseburger!
Wow, every rime I have a meal here I always am amazed at how delicious the food is and this is one more example of this.
This is one of the best cheeseburgers I’ve ever had. The burgers are cooked perfectly and the bun is bakery fresh. What a satisfying lunch!
For dessert Tom and I split a skillet cookie which is a delicious chocolate chip cookie topped off with vanilla ice cream and warm chocolate sauce.
What a sweet treat and a perfect end to a wonderful lunch at Jack’s On Adams!
After lunch I ran into Yvonee Greer and Greg Batton and it was great to see both of them!
Yvonne is a personal trainer and motivational coach and check out her Power Zone page right here. Greg is the co-host of the Greg and Dan Morning Show on WMBD.
Since I posted the Lytle and Lamb Show Pekin Daily Times article I wrote, I thought I’d also post this article about Greg I wrote for them.
Through the years I wrote a number of feature articles for the Pekin Daily Times and when I moved to New York City in 1993, I wrote for the NY Post, the NY Daily News, Time Out New York magazine, New York Newsday and the Manhattan Spirit. People have always asked me why I never wrote for the PJ Star and as Greg and Yvonne now know, the answer to that is, you just don’t walk in off the street and write for the PJ Star!
I was told that by an editor for the PJ Star back in 1990 and have obsessed over it every day since then!
On my way out, Jack introduced me to Tyler who’s a sales associate with Kuna Foodservice and supplies Jack with some of his superior food!
Great to meet him and thanks to Tom for sharing lunch with me today at Jack’s On Adams!
