Le Bakery has been making and serving up sweet treats in the Metro Centre since 1985. It’s a family-owned, local business and they recently add a new addition to the bakery: A cafe!
The cafe is open from 8am to 5pm for breakfast, lunch or an early dinner. I’ve been meaning to go there for lunch and today is that day! And like most luncheon posts, we have a special guest star!
Here we are at Le Bakery, it’s been here in the Metro Centre for almost four decades!
This and Peoria Camera are two of the oldest businesses in the Metro Centre, which reminds me, I need to make a stop at Peoria Camera and see how they’re doing! Stay tuned for that and now let’s go in and start today’s luncheon adventure!
We are inside Le Bakery and I love the freshly-baked aroma in here
I was freshly-baked for a couple decades myself, but that’s a whole different story for a different post!
Lots of sweet treats in here!
There some beautiful cakes and cookies in here, but we’re not going to be eating sweet treats today, we’re going to get something from the savory side of Le Bakery…
Right over here in the Le Bakery Cafe! Let’s go in and find this week’s luncheon guest of honor!
The cafe is so nice and tucked away over in a corner table is this week’s luncheon guest of honor, Lawrence Maushard!
We’ve communicated on facecrack, but this is the first time I’m meeting Lawrence in real life!
Lawrence has a background similar to me, he was born and raised here, but set out for not one, not two but three big cities between 1999 to 2017. In those years, he lived in Portland, Chicago and Boston. Lawrence is also a writer and has been back in Peoria, living on the East Bluff since 2017.
I try not to get political on here, so this isn’t a political endorsement, but Lawrence is running for Peoria City Council. You can read about Lawrence and his priorities by clicking right here.
And to be fair, click here for all of the people that are running for Peoria City Council.
Great to meet Lawrence and now it’s time for lunch!
You order at the end of this counter and there’s Kevin Palermo who happily took our order.
Kevin and his family own and operate Le Bakery and they do a fabulous job. I’m really anxious to sample some of delicious luncheon offerings served up in here!
I mentioned that there’s savory food to be had in here, but there’s also some sweet treats to be had including several styles of Danish and other pastries made fresh, from scratch! There’s also packaged items you can take home with you.
Here’s a silhouette photo from the back of the cafe.
And then, just like magic our lunch has arrived.
Lawrence was eating light and had a bowl of the vegetable minestrone soup along with a piece of their homemade bread. He gave the soup and bread rave reviews and said he’d highly recommend the Le Bakery Cafe to friends.
I wasn’t eating nearly as light as Lawrence, although the last time I looked at a scale, I should be!
I started off with a bowl of their Three Cheese Tomato soup and it was so rich, creamy and tasty!
We’re off to a fabulous start to this meal!
I also got a slice of the Ham and Cheese Quiche and a side order of roasted potatoes. The food here is unbelievable!
The Quiche was a rich delight and the potatoes packed in a delicious flavor!
What a wonderful lunch and I noticed they have Grilled Cheese on their menu, so you know I’ll be back!
Thanks to Lawrence for joining me and being this week’s luncheon guest star! We had a fun and lively conversation and fabulous food in a comfortable setting, a wonderful lunch and afternoon at Le Bakery Cafe!
