So last Thursday I saw the following post on facecrack from the Castle’s Patio Inn page:
What they’re referring to is the Little Golden Lunch where I utilized the famous Castle’s Patio Inn cheese for my take on a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. You can read that post by clicking here.
Now let’s get over to Castle’s Patio Inn and try out their newest sandwich, the Castle Philly, inspired by Yours Fooly!
Here we are at Castle’s Patio Inn on a cold and snowy winter day, but I bet it’s toasty warm inside, so let’s get in there already!
It’s nice and warm in here and Nadine, the pretty bartender on duty delivered me an iced tea just as I was getting ready to sit down. Perfect timing!
James is the head chef here at Castle’s and he’s going to make us up the Castle Philly sandwich! I can’t wait to try this out!
Michelle, who owns Castle’s printed out the text and photos from my blog so people could see where the inspiration for the sandwich came from!
That was so nice! I love it!
There’s the quartet of beers on tap in here.
I love the vintage Budweiser trolley suspended from the ceiling and there’s a long shot of the bar itself.
The dining area is just opposite the bar and they now have Ray’s Patio Inn t-shirts, a nice tribute to the past owner before the Castle’s took it over!
Their legendary cheese spread is housed in these wooden coolers, we’ll soon be seeing it on the Castle Philly sandwich!
Behind the wall is a discreet gaming area for all of you gamblers out there!
Meanwhile, back at the bar, the Castle Philly is served up by James and Nadine. I can’t wait to dig in to this!
Wow, this sandwich is a real masterpiece!
It’s thinly sliced beef that you can have topped with Castle’s traditional garlic cheese spread or the new Jalapeno cheese spread, I went with the Jalapeno to spice it up a little bit.
There’s also grilled onions and peppers on a toasted bun and I have to tell you, this is one of the best sandwiches, if not the best sandwich I’ve ever had!
The beef is tender and juicy, the onions and peppers add nice flavors to the mix and the melted Castle’s cheese spread knocks it out of the park. And the toasted and buttered bun was bakery fresh!
And you can use the onions and cheese that fall off of the sandwich as a dip for the potato chips! Nothing is wasted!
James did a wonderful job on this! I highly suggest you get over to Castle’s soon for lunch and/or dinner and try out the Castle Philly, there’s nothing else like it in Peoria…or Philadelphia for that matter!
The Castle Philly is just one more item that makes Castle’s Patio Inn, The Cheesiest Place In Town!
Thanks to Nadine and James for the great service and friendly conversation!
