We’re down to just two burgers in our Goldbelly Keens Steakhouse box.
I was looking for a different way to prepare this week’s burger when I stumbled upon a way of preparing a burger that I had never seen before: Boiling a burger. It sounds wrong, but I found videos of people doing this, click here, here and here to see a trio of boiling burger videos and there’s lots more on YouTube.
I’ve never boiled a burger, but that all changes this week! Let’s cook!
Simple ingredients this week, the Keens hamburger, an onion and the bun from Keens.
I cut the bun in half and put it in the pre-heated pizza oven to warm it up. Then we’ll chop up the onion…
And put it in the pot of boiling water. I also added some chopped onions that were left over from last week’s Peoria Cheesesteak Sandwich.
While the onions simmer, let’s have a little beer break. Cheers!
Okay, the onions have been simmering in the water and now we’ll add the burger to the watery onion soup. I squished the burger down, flipped it a couple times and now we’ll put the lid on and let it cook for about ten minutes.
Ten minutes later, the burger comes out and I patted it dry with a paper towel. It actually looks really tasty, I had my doubts about this, but this boiling method may really work!
Alright, I placed it on the toasted bun, added some Sweet & Spicy Sandwich Pal mustard and a pile of the onions and presto…
Here’s the boiled onion burger! It looks fabulous, I have to admit, I’m a little shocked!
Wow, all I added was salt to the burger and it is so flavorful. Boiling it with the onions has given it a delicious, natural savory flavor!
Who knew a boiled burger could be so tasty! Well, now we all know!
One more burger next week and then it’s off to another Goldbelly box!
