Haddad’s On Main Street is a beloved Lebanese-themed restaurant here in Peoria. It’s so well liked that it won a free makeover from a “Revamp Peoria” initiative designed to help small businesses that were affected from the Coronavirus Pandemic.
They unveiled their new look at the beginning of the new year and I’ve been meaning to go and check it out and so today is that day.
It’s off we go to Haddad’s on Main Street for this week’s lunch and we’re meeting a special guest star there as well!
There it is with their brand new look. They went with a black, white and red theme and it looks fantastic.
I put a picture of the old front of the restaurant below for comparison and I love the new look!
Here’s a couple shots from both sides of the newly re-designed building. Very nice!
Let’s go in and start this week’s luncheon adventure!
They’ve redecorated the inside of here as well and it looks fantastic!
Uh, oh…I think I see our special guest over at the table in the back. Let’s go and say hi!
Here’s this week’s special luncheon guest star, Virgil Hargrove!
Virgil owns a Morton-based business called Medical Resources Group Limited, which is a service organization that focuses on marketing, sales, distribution and service of surgical equipment and supplies.
Virgil founded the business in 2001 and they distribute and sell medical and surgical supplies throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Virgil and I met online but this is the first time meeting in person and it’s great to make his acquaintance!
And now it’s time to order lunch.
The food here ranges from traditional Lebanese favorites featuring, Gyros, Shawarma, Falafel and Shish Kebabs, but they also have American-styled food such as Hamburgers, Pork Tenderloins, Grilled Chicken and Pork Chop Sandwiches.
Nidal, who’s the owner of this restaurant took our order, but ran back to the kitchen before I could take her photo, so…
I ran back to the kitchen and got her photo back there!
You can run, but you can’t hide from the MBIP Camera!
It’s great to see Nidal again and she’s one of the friendliest business owners in Peoria!
The inside make-over includes this wall emblazoned with the Haddad’s logo and a lot of framed photos.
There’s photos of the Haddad family on the wall and the last one is the founding father of the Haddad’s restaurant, Tony Haddad at his downtown food cart.
I met Tony way back in 2013 when I was doing a post on the carts in downtown Peoria. Click on this link and scroll down to see Tony’s photo that I took.
Sadly, Tony died in 2015, but his memory and legacy lives on here in Haddad’s restaurant.
And Haddad’s now has a food truck and it’s dedicated to Tony and is called Tony’s On Wheels. You can follow the schedule on their facecrack page.
Here’s Nidal with this week’s lunch and it looks fantastic!
Virgil and I both got Lebanese dishes for our lunch.
He got a Gyro and I went with the Shish Kebab Platter.
Virgil’s Gyro was huge and he said it was a taste-sensation and the best Gyro he’s ever had in his life!
The Shish Kebab Platter was a real savory and tasty treat!
The steak was marinated and it was very juicy, tender and flavorful. It mixed nicely with the grilled onions, green pepper and warm rice and it was a delicious lunch!
It was wonderful to finally meet Virgil and we had a lively conversation along with our delicious lunch at Haddad’s. You’ll be seeing him again on the blog soon!
Thanks to Nidal for the wonderful lunch and fantastic and friendly service at Haddad’s on Main Street!
