Okay, we’re finally done with our Fast Food Finger-Lickin’ Chicken Sandwich tour, so this week we’re going to enjoy a palate cleanser meal before starting off on a new Friday food adventure next week.
And this is an historical post because we’re having our first road trip with the MBIP Pal and Wheelman, Scott Turley in over two years! Covid sidelined these road trips and we haven’t been on one since March of 2020 in those blissful pre-pandemic times, check out that post here.
Scott told me about a new taco restaurant that’s opened up in East Peoria called Social Taco, so that’s where this palate-cleansing road trip is taking us to.
Hold on…what’s that…
Pepe Taco! Thanks for coming over, but we’re going to a taco place in East Peoria and you’ve been closed for decades now!
Let’s try this again.
There he is, in the flesh, the MBIP Pal and Wheelman, Scott Turley. It’s been over two years since I’ve seen this guy! Reunited and it feels so good!
We had a couple beers in the still designing stages of the new MBIP World Headquarters Mach IV and then…
Baboom, here we are in East Peoria at Social Taco. I forgot to get a shot of Scott driving hto this destination, I’m a little rusty with these road trip posts.
As always, Scott leads the way inside.
This place has only been open a couple weeks and everything is new and sparkly in here!
Oliver greeted us at the entrance and told us he’s the owner of Social Taco. He said that there’s been a nice reaction from everyone and that business has been good.
He directed us to where to go to order our meals from…
Which is right over here. You order from this island and the menu hangs overhead for your perusal.
Stephany (with a “Y”) took our order with a friendly smile and we’re all ready to settle in and enjoy this week’s palate cleanser at Social Taco in East Peoria.
Here’s the comfortable booth that we settled into for the evening.
I got a margarita and Scott got a draft beer. Cheers from East Peoria!
We started off with chips and Queso dip.
The chips are homemade and they were crisp and very flavorful. The Queso dip was rich and tasty. We’re off to a great start for this evening’s meal!
Here’s Paul serving up our main courses, a trio of tacos!
They have an amazing selection of 18 different styles of tacos on their menu and we got, from left, the Philly Cheese, Nashville Shrimp and the Fried Spicy Tofu Taco.
Time to dig in!
Here’s the Fried Spicy Tofu Taco. I’ve never had a tofu taco and it was okay, but I’ll probably never have another tofu taco and we’ll leave it at that!
Scott got the Nashville Shrimp Taco and he said it was an excellent and tasty taco.
I also got the Philly Cheese Taco and it looks amazing!
This was a fabulous taco!
The beef was tender and tasty and it’s topped with fried onions and peppers and a cheesy Queso sauce.
One of the best tacos I’ve ever had!
Thanks to Scott for driving and thanks to everyone at Social Taco for the great service and friendly atmosphere!
