This week’s Lunch At First Bite is happening at one of my favorite Peoria dining destinations, Donnelly’s Irish Pub. So let’s make tracks to this legendary Peoria Irish Pub and meet our special guest star for this afternoon lunch post!
Here we are at Donnelly’s Irish Pub, let’s go inside and let the luncheon post begin!
In the foyer they encourage you to eat, drink and be Irish, too rah loo rah loo!
There’s also framed articles about the Shamrock bar that Terry and Molly Donnelly started back in 1970, that eventually morphed into Donnelly’s Irish Pub which is now run by their son, Ryan. It’s an Irish family affair!
There’s the colorful dining room and I see our special guest star seated in a booth over there…
It’s Bob Gordon, who’s a frequent guest star on the blog and he’s also the owner of Acme Comics! Always great to see him and catch up on things.
Our waitress was camera shy and didn’t want her picture taken, so I took a picture at the condiments on the table. Always happy to see Heinz Ketchup and Mustard being served!
They’re only condiments you really need!
I went to get some pictures of the bar in front of the pub, took a photo of the beers on tap and at the end of the bar I saw Molly and Ryan Donnelly!
Always great to see them, as I said at the beginning of the post, Molly started this Irish Pub tradition with her husband Terry when they opened the doors at The Shamrock bar in 1970. They then moved over here to Donnelly’s Irish Pub and their son, Ryan now runs the Irish operation. This is one of Peoria’s most beloved Irish pubs and dining destinations and it was great to see Molly and Ryan this afternoon!
Tables and booths are opposite the bar for your dining and drinking pleasure.
Here’s a shot from the back of the dining room and of course I had to take my patent-pending, “Oh deer,” shot over here on the side of the dining room!
And then…
Suddenly…it’s lunch!
Bob got the Beef Au Jus sandwich with Swiss Cheese and home-cooked potato chips.
There’s Bob marveling at this delicious looking lunch. He said it was fantastic and very flavorful!
I got a midwestern classic, the Tenderloin Sandwich along with their fresh hand-cut fries.
This is made from scratch and it’s one of Peoria’s best tenderloins. It’s tasty, juicy and a delicious sandwich from Donnelly’s Irish Pub.
Thanks to Bob Gordon for meeting me for lunch and to Molly and Ryan Donnelly for keeping this legendary Peoria dining and drinking establishment alive!
