Most of you who follow this blog know that the last MBIP World Headquarters got ruined from a fire in the attic over my apartment at the end of January.
If you didn’t know about this, here’s the news story, which of course I had to glom my way on to and here’s a post with before and after photos of the last MBIP World Headquarters along with photos of the hotel I lived in for two months after the fire.
That was all bad news and almost all of my furniture was destroyed by water damage.
However there is good news. I found a new and better apartment which will become the MBIP World Headquarters, Mach IV. I’ve just moved in and I’ve received the items that survived the fire.
Here’s a little pre-tour as I start the long process of putting this place together!
Luckily I had renters insurance and it paid for a company to salvage and clean whatever items they could from my water-damaged apartment.
As you can see, Greg Batton is not the only person whose life is in boxes!
It took me a whole week to unpack everything, but I had a lot of nice surprises like this one, my two roommates survived the fire!
This is Sgt. Squeak and his friend the Mouse With No Name. I didn’t think that they made it through, so it was nice to see them again and welcome them into the new MBIP World Headquarters, Mach IV!
I was also thrilled that all the framed photos from the Joan Jett Hall Of Fame made it back to me!
I think I’m going to install these onto a Joan Jett Wall Of Fame in the new headquarters. Stay tuned for updates on that!
All of these framed posters and pictures made it back to me as well. I was happy that so many of them didn’t get destroyed.
All of the damage came from my ceiling caving in from water and that destroyed most of the furniture, but since these were hanging on the wall, they all made it back to me in good shape. That was a relief as most of them had a lot of sentimental value and couldn’t have been replaced.
Somehow, these two lamps survived.
This little table made it because it was on top of another table and didn’t get damaged by the water.
I couldn’t believe that this boom box made it through! This was the first thing I bought when I moved to New York City in 1993! I got it at some cheapo electronics store on 14th street for 20 bucks and it still works! I was happy to get this back, another sentimental item from my past!
My pizza oven survived!
So did my pots and pans, they’re indestructible!
My microwave oven also made it back to me along with the plastic chicken and toothpick holder!
My brother Tom loaned me this folding table and the insurance company paid for a new computer, so this is the work area where the MBIP Blog is made every day till I get a new desk and a chair.
I also have to get a new couch, end tables, bookcases, lamps, coffee table, entertainment center and a bunch of other stuff. Then I have to hang all of the pictures. This is going to be a long process and I’ll do a blog every couple of weeks to show the progress.
I really want to thank Brian White and BluSky Restoration Company for salvaging all of these items. They were a great company to work with while going through a somewhat devastating time in my life. They did a great job cleaning and salvaging all of these items that I thought might have been destroyed!
If you have had a fire, water damage, weather destruction, call BluSky Restoration Company to restore and salvage your furniture and items, they do a wonderful job!
Okay, I have to go shopping for a couch now, we’ll see you all tomorrow!
