Castle’s Patio Inn has been fine-tuning their menu ever since they re-opened last summer.
They recently added pizza to the menu, so I thought I’d stop by and sample a lovely cheese pizza, just for me!
Here we are at Castle’s Patio Inn, a classic Peoria tavern and dining destination!
It’s the Cheesiest Place In Town and check out the sign: “Stop in and try our Pizza!”
Well, let’s go inside and do what the sign says to do!
The new owners haven’t changed much in here and that’s a good thing. This place always brings back memories for me.
I’ve been coming here since the late ‘70’s back when it was Ray’s Patio Inn.
That’s Lindsey who was bartending and looking very pretty! I love her smile and she certainly brightens the place up!
Of course you have to have some of their home-made cheese when you’re at the bar, it’s the rules!
Chris was seated next to me and told me that he’s thinking about writing a book about being a police officer here in Peoria in the ‘60’s. I’d be interested in reading that!
Down at the end of the bar was legendary Peoria Mixologist, Too Tall. Great to see him and catch up on what he’s been up to!
There’s the quartet of taps behind the bar and the Budweiser Trolley is hanging overhead.
The cheese spread is stored in the wooden refrigerated area and check it out, there’s one of the original Ray’s Patio Inn cheese crocks behind the bar. Very cool!
The dining area is located opposite the bar and there’s a discreet gaming area in the front corner of the room.
And that sign reminds me of what I came here for: Pizza!
There’s Kevin in the kitchen, Kevin’s the Executive Chef here at Castle’s Patio Inn and he’s made me many tasty meals through the years!
Here he is constructing this week’s pizza pie and sliding it into their pizza oven.
That’s Marcus on the left and Andrew on the right of Kevin. They’re both cooks and dishwashers here at Castle’s Patio Inn and it was great to meet both of them!
Meanwhile, back at the bar, the lovely Malorie is now on duty…Jameson shots anyone?
This is Jeep, who bartends here as well as making and forging knives at River City Labs. Very Impressive work!
Here’s Kevin with this week’s pizza pie.
It looks fabulous, we’ll let it cool for a moment and then try it out!
This is really tasty and delicious pizza!
The crust is cracker thin, just the way I like it and the sauce is tangy and has a subtle sweet after-taste. The cheese is rich and creamy and this is a top notch pizza pie!
THIS WEEK’S RATING
——
The Rating System
Any rating from 0 to 5.9 is a substandard pizza that you should definitely avoid.
A rating from 6 to 8.5 is a good pizza and gets the MBIP pizza pie recommendation.
A rating from 8.6 to 9.4 means the pizza is very high quality and you need to try it out as soon as you can.
Ratings from 9.5 to 10 represent the best pizzas in Peoria (in my opinion).
——
I’ll give this week’s pizza from Castle’s Patio Inn an impressive 8.2 rating. The pizza is excellent and every Wednesday (tonight) you can get a half-price pizza from 4pm to 8pm!
