Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night, starring this week’s host, The Publik House and featuring special guest stars, Natalie and Bella.
Now please welcome, from “Restaurant Row” in Peoria Heights, tonight’s host: The Publik House!
Here we are at the Publik House in Peoria Heights on Prospect Road.
Let’s go in because it’s freezing out here, Old Man Winter has finally shown up and I hate his frozen guts!
Here’s the foyer and I love that little framed drawing of The Publik House!
Okay one more door to go through and we can begin our Saturday night adventure!
Natalie was at the hostess station looking fabulous and what a beautiful smile!
As you can see the place is packed but Natalie pointed me in the direction of one last available seat at the bar and so I snagged it!
Bella was the pretty and friendly bartender on duty and here she is serving me up an iced tea.
I placed my dinner order and so let’s take a few photos in here while the meal is being prepared.
The bar in here is really spectacular, I love the three classic mirrors behind the bar and the impressive and boozy inventory!
The mermaids and the fan in front of the bar are also memorable displays.
I love this corner with the vintage lamp, tea room set and the Murray Baker Bridge illustration.
Booths line the wall opposite the bar and there’s a nook at the front window overlooking Prospect Road.
The owner of Publik House, Travis Goff, started off working for Mike “Sully” Sullivan and there’s a portrait of him hanging on the wall. What a nice tribute to a well-known and legendary Peorian!
Meanwhile back at the bar, it looks like our Saturday night dinner is about to be served up!
And here it is, I got their award-winning Mac and Cheese and the El Cubano Sandwich.
It looks amazing, let’s dig in!
I started off with a tasting of the Mac and Cheese.
Their Mac and Cheese is topped off with buttery crackers and a layer of cheddar cheese and when you dig in you’ll find chunks of bacon and chives and a rich creamy white cheese sauce. This is one of the best bowls of Mac and Cheese I’ve ever had!
It’s so hearty, tasty and downright decadent! A wonderful start to this Saturday night feast!
The El Cubano sandwich was equally amazing!
It’s generously stuffed with pulled pork, shaved ham and topped off with creamy melted white cheddar cheese. There’s also hot mustard, spicy pickles on the top and bottom and the sandwich is housed in buttery toasted house-made Rosemary Focaccia bread.
It was such a savory, spicy and rich sandwich. What an original take on a Cuban sandwich!
This was a delicious dinner in a friendly and warm atmosphere. If you’ve never been to The Publik House, stop by and check it out!
It was a lovely Saturday night destination!
As I made my way back to the MBIP car, I made a frightening discovery…it’s the first snow of the year. Aaaaaaahhhhh!
