Cyd’s moved from Junction City to Donovan Park over a year ago and it’s about time for me to do a post from there.
So here we go with our first luncheon at Cyd’s In The Park with a special luncheon guest star to be named soon!
Just start scrolling and you’ll find out!
Here we are at Cyd’s In The Park.
it’s located in Donovan Park off of Knoxville Avenue here in Peoria.
Before we go in, let’s look at the outside dining patio area. Wow, this is a huge space!
I love all of the wood and cement stone art.
My guess is that it’s all done by in-house artist and photographer, Keith Cotton and hopefully we’ll get to ask him in person.
For now, let’s go inside and see what’s happening.
This is Julian, who’s the Chief Experience Creator here at Cyd’s.
He’s a nice guy and he told me he reads the MBIP blog which is always great to hear!
Our waitress is Kaitlin and you can tell by her crinkled eyes that there’s a pretty smile underneath that mask.
There’s a shot of the dining room and as I peruse the menu, our special luncheon guest star arrives…
Tada…Here’s our special luncheon guest star, Linda! Her official title on her business card is, “Consultant, Visioneer and Curmudgeon.
We follow each other on Twitter and had made plans for lunch the week that this rotten pandemic blew into town. A year and a half later we finally get to meet!
Linda’s a fun person and I’m sure you’ll see more of her on the blog.
Now it’s time for lunch!
Linda got the Salmon Burger with Sweet Potato Fries and I got the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich which was highly recommended by Kaitlin, I also got the homemade chips with the sandwich.
The sandwich was incredible!
It’s a hand-breaded, deep-fried chicken breast with sweet and spicy pickles and a hot and spicy honey hot sauce.
It’s served on a seeded bakery fresh bun and it is so delicious and tasty!
I asked about Keith Cotton and Julian told me he was working outside putting the finishing touches on the outside cocktail patio that just went up.
Here he is taking a break from the work.
Here’s Keith posing with Linda and he confirmed that all of the brick and wood sculptures were indeed done by him.
The whole place is an ongoing piece of Keith Cotton artwork that you should definitely stop by and enjoy and experience.
There’s Linda and Keith taking dueling photos of each other!
And now, it’s time for…
The Same Three Fucking Questions!
Okay, I screwed up and forgot to send these questions to Linda until last night. I texted her but I haven’t heard back, so I’m going to answer the same three fucking questions I ask here every week.
And so just like Jackie Gleason, awaaaay we go!
——
1. Does ketchup belong on a hot dog?
Fuck no. If you’re over 12-years-old you cannot put ketchup on a hot dog. It’s just the rules. Mustard and onions only and don’t get me going on those fucking stupid-ass Chicago Dogs!
2. Is deep dish pizza really pizza or is it a casserole like Jon Stewart says it is.
It’s a shitty fucking casserole and just another example of how Chicago food is inferior to New York styled food. And don’t even get me going on their stupid fucking Chicago dogs. Fuck those things and fuck Chicago food. It’s called the “Second City” for a good reason.
3. Why do fools fall in love?
Because they’re the same fucking dumbasses that put ketchup on hot dogs and think that Chicago food is superior to New York food. Fuuuuuuuck!
