Today we have two special guest stars for this week’s Lunch At First Bite post, my cousin’s Danny and Patty.
This is part of our continuing summer cousin lunch series that started back in 2014 and we had another lunch in 2017 and 2018.
We didn’t meet last year due to the pandemic, but I’m happy to announce that Danny and Patty are back in town this year and it’s time for another lunch with the cousins!
In fact…
Here they are at MBIP World Headquarters!
Great to see them and I appreciate them taking time to hang out with me and have lunch. Speaking of lunch…
This year we decided to go to Khaki Jack’s, Peoria’s only Australian-themed pub.
They have a large tent and tables set up for outside dining, but we chose to dine inside.
There’s the bar and veteran bartender Chuck is slinging the drinks and he took time to pose for the MBIP Camera!
Always great to see him!
There’s a row of gaming machines opposite the bar for all of you gambler’s out there!
We chose a table in the back of the dining area to sit at and there’s Danny and Patty all settled in for this year’s lunch!
Here’s our friendly waitress, Collette serving up our drinks.
We checked out the menu and Collette took our luncheon orders.
We started off with an order of soft pretzels for an appetizer. These were buttery, salty and the cheese was rich, zippy and very tasty!
Danny got a cheeseburger and Patty got a chicken sandwich. Both of the sandwiches look delicious!
We split an order of the Aussie Fries and these are some of the best fries in Peoria!
They’re fresh, hand-cut, crispy and delicious!
I got the Ipswich Chicken Sandwich which consists of a juicy chicken breast topped with melted Monterey Jack Cheese and crispy Jalapeno bacon, lettuce and onion.
The Chicken breast was tender and tasty and the Monterey Jack Cheese added a rich layer of taste. The Jalapeno bacon was smoky and spicy and the bun was toasted and bakery fresh. What a delicious sandwich!
Collette took a photo of us after lunch with the map of Australia behind us.
Great to see Danny and Patty again and I want to thank them for taking the time to have lunch with me.
And now…as always, it’s time for…
The SAme Three Fucking Questions!
Patty agreed to answer the same three fucking questions we ask every week here and so away we go!
1. Does ketchup belong on a hot dog?
Ketchup on hot dogs…eeww, gross, but Dan does like ketchup on his hot dogs.
2. Is deep dish pizza really pizza or is it a casserole like Jon Stewart says it is.
Deep dish pizza is an oxymoron, real pizza is crispy and thin.
3. Why do fools fall in love?
Fools fall in love because fools are risk-takers. It’s likely that fools are needy and prefer instant gratification.

Thanks Patty and I look forward to seeing you and Dan next year!
