Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night, starring this week’s host, The Rail Splitter and featuring special guest star, MBIP Pal, Wheelman and Birthday Boy, Scott Turley!
Now, please wish a Happy Birthday to Scott Turley on this Seventh Annual Scott Turley Birthday Extravaganza!
It’s been a couple years since we’ve celebrated Scott Turley’s birthday here on the MBIP blog. The first birthday celebration happened on July 25th, 2013 and the last one was celebrated on July 25th, 2018.
And so, here we go with this year’s Scott Turley Birthday Celebration!
Here’s Scott opening up his birthday gifts. Among the highlights were, “Maybe You Touched Your Genitals” hand sanitizer and the Once Upon Peoria book by Elizabeth Klise.
And now, it’s time for the birthday dinner!
This is the first road trip we’ve taken since the pre-pandemic Mexican road trip to Pekin back in March of 2020.
Today we’re heading to Mossville with the final destination of…
The Rail Splitter.
I’ve never been here and this is a place that Scott frequented back in the days when he worked at Caterpillar.
I like the looks of the place, let’s go in and start this celebratory birthday Saturday night!
Scott’s leading the way in…
We decided to get a seat at the bar.
And as soon as we sat down, Maranda, the pretty bartender on duty brought us some ice-cold beers. So far, so very good!
The place has a nice woody rustic feel to it, kind of like a ski lodge!
There’s the quartet of beers on tap.
There’s gaming machines opposite the bar.
There’s two separate dining rooms behind the bar.
Meanwhile, back at the bar…
Our dinners are served!
Scott got the Walleye dinner that was the Saturday night special and I got the Ribeye Steak Sandwich dinner.
Both of them look fantastic!
There’s Scott digging into his dinner.
It was a huge plate complete with the Walleye, fresh-cut French fries, a biscuit and corn fritters. What a feast!
My dinner came with handcut shoestring cheese fries and they were crispy, tasty and the cheese sauce was rich and creamy.
I added some steak sauce to the Ribeye Sandwich and it was tender, savory and so delicious!
The bun was bakery fresh and this was such a tasty dinner!
Happy birthday, Scott! We’ll do this again next year!
