We have a request for this week’s frozen pizza review and here it is:
My friend Don Keeley left this request in a comment on Twitter and no, I haven’t reviewed this frozen pizza yet, but now I will. Don Keeley, this pizza pie review is just for you! And anyone else reading this too.
Here we are at Schnuck’s in the frozen pizza aisle and whoomp, there’s the Pep’s Drafthaus pizza section.
We’ll get a pie and head back to the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area.
And through the magic of these here interwebs, we’re here at the aforementioned MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area!
Here’s the Pep’s Drafthaus Double Pepperoni Doppelback Pizza Pie. Are you like me and are you wondering what the hell “Doppelback” means?
Is this a subtle Rutles reference? Oh well, let’s just keep moving along.
We have two special guest stars today, my friends Nancy and Dan stopped by to check out the new MBIP World Headquarters!
Great to see both of them and Dan is a co-host, along with Aaron, of a fun and entertaining podcast called, Not Half Dad. It’s a lively podcast about being a Dad and you can check it out by clicking right here.
Now we’ll slide the pizza into the MBIP pizza oven and we’ll let the oven do its magic and turn this frozen pizza into a warm and tasty pizza pie.
While it’s cooking, let’s enjoy the very first Not Half Dad live podcast! Listen for a mention of me, that’s the best part! (Note: Click on the link to watch it on YouTube, I don’t know why it’s not playing here, but what are you going to do?)
Here’s the pizza all cooked up and I’ve sliced it up. Now we’ll let it cool for a little bit. I like my pizza at room temperature.
While it cools, enjoy this video of the top ten NYC pizza slices. And yes, I’ve eaten all of these slices!
Okay, it’s cooled down and now it’s time to season the slice!
Dan had to leave to go do his Not Half Dad thing, but here’s Nancy getting ready to sample her slice of the Pep’s Drafthaus Double Pepperoni Doppelback pizza.
And just so you know, I still have no idea what the word “Doppelback” means and it’s bugging the hell out of me!
Nancy took a shot of me eating my slice. The pizza was tasty but just a little too filling for my tastes. I’ll add more in the rating below.
I’m giving this a 6.9 rating. While I liked the taste of it, it was just a little too much for me. I prefer a simpler pizza with a thin crust. This pizza has a thick crust, a half pound of cheese and a ton of pepperoni. If a big honking pizza is your style, you’ll probably love it. I liked it, but it was a little too much for me.
Plus, what the hell does Doppelback even mean? Who are the ad wizards who came up with this one?
