Okay, we’re on our second week in a saucy and cheesy journey of attempting to eat all of the pizza in Peoria.
Last week I don’t think I made it clear enough that this pizza-eating tour is just limited to Peoria and Peoria Heights. People left suggestions on facecrack for places outside of Peoria, but this is Peoria only. Not East Peoria, not Pekin or any other of the neighboring towns.
It’s all the pizza in Peoria.
Today we’re going to go to one of the few pizza emporiums in town that offers up single slices, which is something I miss about living in New York. There’s only a few places to get single slices in Peoria and today we’re visiting on of those establishments.
The place I’m going to visit this week’s is Hoop’s Pub and Pizza on Main Street in downtown Peoria, so let’s go and sample yet another slice of pizza in Peoria!
Here we are at Hoops Pub And Pizza on Main Street. If you’re out late in Peoria and have the munchies they serve food up till four in the morning.
Hey check out the obligatory mirror shot in the door, I love it when that happens!
Okay, let’s go inside and see what’s going on in Hoops on this sunny, summer afternoon.
I came here at two in the afternoon, so it’s not crowded at all. I settled in at the end of the bar and Heather delivered me an iced tea. She told me she’s worked at Hoops for 16 years, what did she start when she was twelve?
I placed my pizza order and now let’s take a look around in here.
Up front there’s tables that look out on to Main Street, there’s a row of gaming machines and dining tables line the far wall, opposite the bar.
The bar has a sports theme to it and they have an actual scoreboard on the front wall. Very cool!
I love the Hoops neon sign too! It’s bright and sparkly!
In keeping with the sports bar theme of the place, the walls are loaded with jerseys, sports photos and memorabilia.
They have a lot of vintage Bradley sports photos and of course there’s Da Bears!
Here’s a shot from the back of the pub. God, I hate the sunshine!
Here’s the pizza station where the pizzas are made in the back you can see the pizza oven.
Speaking of pizza…
It looks like it’s just about time for this week’s pizza sampling.
i started off with an order of potato chips.
These are crispy, warm chips and I got them with the hot mustard dipping sauce. The chips were tasty and that sauce was tangy, zippy and delicious!
Here we go, this week’s slice of pizza, the cheese pizza from Hoops!
They serve the slices up piping hot on metal plates.
As per the rules for this tour, I’m not going to add any seasonings to it so I can sample this slice in it’s true, un-altered form.
The crust has a nice char to it and it’s cooked well done, just the way I like it. As you can see the crust is very thin and crispy.
It’s very close to a New York style of pizza and there’s a little bit of a grease factor, but overall, I enjoyed this slice of cheese pizza from Hoops.
Nothing special or fancy, just a tasty slice of cheese pizza.

This Week’s Rating
——
The Rating System
Any rating from 0 to 5.9 is a substandard pizza that you should definitely avoid.
A rating from 6 to 8.5 is a good pizza and gets the MBIP pizza pie recommendation.
A rating from 8.6 to 9.4 means the pizza is very high quality and you need to try it out as soon as you can.
Ratings from 9.5 to 10 represent the best pizzas in Peoria (in my opinion).
