Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out starring this week’s host, the legendary, Lou’s Drive-In with special guest star, Anna!
Now please welcome this week’s host, Lou’s Drive-In!
Here we are at the legendary Lou’s Drive-In. They’ve been serving up chili dogs, root beer and ice cream treats for over 50 years in this location!
When the iconic “Lou’s Drive-In” sign lights up, you know that summer isn’t far away!
They’re open for outside dining, but. I’m still doing the take-out thing for now.
I am making progress, last year I was afraid to get out of my car!
I love the old-fashioned signage at Lou’s!
In addition to chili dogs and ice cream, Lou’s is also known for their buttery and delicious popcorn!
Okay, let’s go up to the window and pick up our first order of the season from Lou’s Drive-In!
Wow, the Lou’s girls are busy back there! One of them went to see about my order. Check out the vintage menu on the wall.
There’s Anna with part of our order, she’s looking cute in her mask!
Through the magic of the internet, we’re back at MBIP World Headquarters and Tasting Area. And this is the brand new MBIP World Headquarters.
I’m still putting the place together and hopefully in a couple weeks I can show pictures of the bigger and brand new MBIP World Headquarters!
Now, before we dig in to the food, let’s have some beer…
Root Beer, that is! Lou’s homemade root beer never fails to satisfy!
I mentioned their famous popcorn earlier and here’s a bag of it, this is a small order!
The large size must come in a garbage bag! I got mine with extra butter and I poured that on and had a few handfuls!
This Saturday night dinner is off to a fantastic start!
The main course is plated and I’m calling it “Chili Cheese Three Ways.”
I’ve got a chili-cheese dog, a chili-cheese tamale and chili-cheese fries.
They package a tub of chili and one of cheese for the fries. That way you can apply it to the fries when you get home and they’re not all soggy from sitting in the car.
Let’s dig in!
The chili-cheese fries and tamale were delicious! The chili and cheese adds a nice savory, spicy and rich element to both of these side dishes.
Now it’s time for a Lou’s classic, the chili-cheese dog! I’ve been craving this all week and it didn’t disappoint!
The bun is bakery fresh and the hot dog is tasty and in addition to the chili and cheese, I got chopped onions on it and this is one fantastic and tasty chili-cheese dog!
That was a lot of food, but there’s still one more treat left for the evening…
I got a Butterscotch Sundae for dessert! The ice cream is nice and melty from the car ride and this is a sweet ending to the first Lou’s feast of the season!
Make sure to go and support Lou’s this season and help keep this local and legendary Peoria drive-in alive!
