Okay, it’s time to start another Saturday “flashback” series and I’ve decided that we’ll highlight past Saturday night dinner posts.
I go out every Saturday night for dinner and then post photos of that dinner on Monday. I thought it would be fun to post some photos from past dinners and then put up a link for the original post.
I’ve also decided that for this series, we’ll go back to the beginning of the blog and work our way forward. We won’t do every week just highlight some of the special nights.
For the debut, we’re going all the way back to December of 2012 for one of the very first MBIP Saturday Night posts.
Oh Sherman, you want to help us kick off this new series?
Please set the Wayback Machine for December 24, 2012 and…
Baboom—here we are at Jim’s Steak House. I hadn’t been here for years and was anxious to have my Saturday Night Cheeseburger there and take a look around.
I was there on Xmas week and as you can see, the foyer and dining room were lit up with Xmas festive lights and decorations!
Check out the bar in here, I love it! This place reminds me of a New York steak house. I grabbed a seat at the fancy bar and…
Karen the pretty and friendly bartender on duty served up an ice-cold bottle of Budweiser! The night is off to a fantastic start!
I started the series Saturday Night Cheeseburger back in 2010, when I was doing the 365 bar crawl blog. I carried it on through my other New York City blogs, Marty After Dark and Tripping With Marty. I thought I’d continue this tradition here in Peoria, but sadly, there was no cheeseburger on the menu!
Karen said she’d talk to the chef and see what he could do. Stay tuned to see if a cheeseburger is in our future or not! The suspense builds here!
On this Saturday night at Jim’s Steak House, I met Gene Farris who was the piano man at Jim’s. As you can see from the bottom picture, he had adoring fans and was a wonderful person.
I had a nice conversation with him and always looked forward to seeing him and hearing his fabulous music at Jim’s Steak House.
Sadly, he’s not with us these days, but you can read all about Gene Farris in this tribute from 2016. R.I.P. Gene Farris!
The walls in Jim’s are lined with autographed celebrity photos who have played the Peoria Civic Center and then dined at Jim’s. One of my favorites is this one of Warren Zevon.
Here’s an autographed photo from Peoria’s hometown hero, Dan Fogelberg!
Check it out, Karen talked the chef into making me an off the menu Jim’s Steak House cheeseburger dinner! It looks fantastic!
Wow, this was a juicy and delicious cheeseburger! What a fantastic way to start off this cheese burger series back in Peoria, Illinois at Jim’s Steak House!
Some of the staff posed for a portrait as I was leaving. Clockwise from left: Danielle, Ashley, Karen, owner Tim Comfort and Mary!
Thanks for a wonderful and fun evening at Jim’s Steak House!
