Okay, we’ve eaten the entire Arby’s menu and before that we ate everything at McDonald’s. So it’s time for us to find a new fast food restaurant to eat our way through.
But before that, let’s have a little local restaurant palate cleanser.
Let’s get over to the Untamed Chef, it’s been too long since we’ve sampled their delicious food!
Here we are at the Untamed Chef on University Street in the Windsor Square shopping area.
Let’s go inside and start this palate cleansing adventure!
It’s been a while since I’ve been in here and it looks fabulous in here. I saw a familiar face over there in the kitchen and prep area and there’s the owner and Untamed Chef herself, Rebecca Hearn A.K.A. Chef Becca.
It was great to see her again and she said that business has been good. They’re back to indoor dining and while I was going to get my food to go, since it was near the end of their shift and it was kind of empty in there, I decided to eat at the restuarant!
This will be my first indoor dining experience since we celebrated Chuck and Diane’s 50th wedding anniversary last August! Kind of a monumental day!
One of the fun things about eating in here is that you can watch your meal being prepared because the kitchen and prep area are located right in the front of the restaurant!
The Untamed Chef is now open for indoor and take-out dining for lunch Monday Through Friday, 11am to 2pm. You can also book private dinner parties, catering, cooking classes and there’s a tasty and fun brunch every Sunday from 9:30am to 1pm.
Check out all they have to offer on their website.
There was two other people in the restaurant and I went over and took a socially distant photo.
This is Mike and Charmane and it turns out that Mike is Chef Becca’s cousin. It’s a small world after all. Or something like that, great to meet both of them.
But I quickly moved away before one of them coughed on me.
The tables in here are large and are made for socially distant dining!
There’s the Untamed Chef logo, some funny towels and a reminder to tip your servers!
Suddenly…pickles!
As I said, I was going to get my food to go, but when I saw that it was almost empty in here, I decided to have my first indoor meal in here since last August. Hooray!
Here’s Chef Becca serving up this fantastic lunch and there’s a bird’s-eye-view photo of this impressive looking lunch!
Let’s dig in!
I started off by sampling the Buffalo Mac and Cheese and I swear, this is the best Mac and Cheese I’ve ever had in my life!
So rich, creamy and just a little spicy! Unbelievably delicious!
Lunch also included a side of their homemade Jamalaya and this was a spicy and tasty treat. A real New Orleans styled side dish, simply delicious!
The main course was a giant Italian Beef sandwich topped with a couple of pickled onions.
As you can see, it was a little difficult to eat with a mask on, but it was succulent, savory and so tasty!
This is some of the best food in Peoria! I was stuffed after the sides and that monster of a sandwich…
But Chef Becca brought me a piece of Rum Cake for dessert and I couldn’t pass that by!
It was covered in warm caramel syrup and it was a sweet and wonderful ending to a perfect lunch and palate cleanser at the Untamed Chef!
We begin our next fast food menu tour next week, so stay tuned for where that’s going to take place.
Thanks to Chef Becca for an extraordinary and delicious lunch and palate cleanser!
