Right now I’m not sure what I’m going to do with this week’s grilled cheese sandwich.
I do know that bread is piling up in the MBIP World Headquarters Freezer, let’s go take a look.
I think I’ll go back to the beginning and use a couple of slices from the Sourdough Bread that we used for the very first grilled cheese sandwich we made here.
And yes, if you look closely you can see vodka and broccoli intermingling with the frozen bread. There’s always a party in the MBIP World Headquarters Freezer!
Okay, while those slices thaw out, we’ll go to the store and get some ingredients for this week’s grilled cheese sandwich.
I decided at the store to make a pizza-influenced grilled cheese and got these ingredients to make it with, clockwise from left: Barbecue potato chips, pizza sauce, pepperoni, mozzarella slices, provolone slices and Edy’s Ice cream.
Okay, it’s that time of the week…Let’s cook!
Since you can’t put pizza sauce inside of a sandwich, I thought we’d make a sauce in a pan that we can dunk the grilled cheese into, to mirror true pizza flavor.
I got a bottle of Schnuck’s Pizza Sauce and added some slices of the mozzarella cheese and melted them into the sauce.
Then I added a liberal amount of Cholula Hot Sauce, black pepper and Cayenne Pepper to give it a little kick and zing.
Okay, we’ll let that simmer on a low heat and now it’s time to grill!
Alright, we have to move fast now so we get just the right crispness and browning on the sandwich.
I put one slice of sourdough into the Official MBIP Grilled Cheese Pan and then layered slices of mozzarella, pepperoni and provolone on top of it.
Then I topped it with the other slice of bread, gave it a couple of flips and…
Alright, it’s time to cut the cheese everybody!
Here’s this week’s pizza-influenced grilled cheese, which I’m calling a Grilled Cheeza and we’ve got some barbecue potato chips to pair it up with.
Let’s dig in!
The barbecue potato chips were kind of disappointing. More of a sour flavor than barbecue and they were kind of stale.
Hopefully we’ll bounce back from this with the Grilled Cheeza Sandwich!
It looks and smells fantastic! The cheese is soft and warm, but not super-melty and you can see those pepperoni slices peaking out from the inside of the sandwich.
Let’s sauce it up and take a bite!
Holy screaming shitballs is this ever a tasty grilled cheese!
You first taste that spicy and cheesy pizza sauce and then comes the griiled sourdough, the rich and creamy melted mozzarella and provolone and then you get hit with the spicy, savory pepperoni.
What a tasty pizza-inspired grilled treat this was! My compliments to the chef!
Hello Sistine Chapel, your order is up!
