Nine years ago, on Monday, December 10th, 2012, around 11am, I hit the “publish” button on my very first post for this blog. All of a sudden, Meanwhile, Back In Peoria… was born! And like any father after a birth, I was scared and nervous.
I knew that if people didn’t read the blog, I wouldn’t continue to do it and it probably would’ve led to some depressing times for me.
I published my very first blog back in 2009 when I was living in New York and it was a giganzo flop and an ego-bruising failure.
But I learned from that failure and my next blog was a huge success and it got international press and attention.
I wrote the history of my blogging career back in 2015 and if you want to read about my blogging years, click here for part one and click here for part two.
I’m kind of taking the day off today to think back and reflect on the last nine years. I’ve had a lot of fun, but I’ve also worked really hard on this blog and I’m proud of what I’ve achieved with it.
There’s one thing that you have to have to be a successful blog and that’s an audience. So if you’re reading this, please know I appreciate all of you who read MBIP more than you’ll ever realize.
Sometimes it shocks me when I look at the numbers and I’m so grateful to have an audience who enjoy and appreciate the work that goes into this.
I’ve met and made so many friends these last nine years, that I can’t even begin to list everyone.
This has been one hell of a ride and it’s not over yet!
I truly thank each and every one of you who read this blog, you’re the wonderful people that keep it going!
Now I’m going to go take a nap! Once again, thanks everyone and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
