Here we are at Friendly Valley Tavern.
This is Peoria’s only Quonset Hut Bar and it’s been standing tall here since the 1940’s, making it one of Peoria’s oldest and most historical taverns and establishments.
And remember I said that you could buy a chunk of Peoria’s history in the introduction?
Well, check out the sign over to the right of the building…
Yep, the legendary and hsitorical Friendly Valley Tavern is for sale.
This is a landmark building and I hope someone buys it and just fixes it up and leaves it the same way it’s been for the past decades it’s been standing here.
It’s one of Peoria’s most unique taverns and the only Quonset Hut bar in the area.
It’s been a landmark bar here in Peoria since the 1940’s.
If you’d like to purchase a piece of Peoria’s history and keep it alive, call Ric Krupps at 309-208-8579. The prices I’ve hear they’re asking for this place are very low, considering all the land it’s on, so I hope a buyer steps up to preserve a piece of Peoria’s history!
Let’s go inside and take a look around before the doors close for this chunk of history of the tavern being open.
This place officially closes this Saturday in case you want to stop and have a final drink in here.
Here’s the bar with history hanging overhead in the form of dollar bills and data from the past.
Linda was working the bar and she’s been here for over ten years and says she hopes someone will buy the bar and keep this tavern legacy alive.
Time will tell.
You gotta love the signage in this place including the legendary Aiken Avenue/Alley sign and the beer cans suspended over the bar.
There’s a dart bard machine in the back and here’s a shot of the wooden bar that’s been here for decades.
Tables line the far wall of the Quonset hut bar and there’s a pool table along with a flat screen TV and and jukebox at the end of the bar.
Outside there’s a nice beer patio along with a sprawling set of land attached to the bar.
I’ve heard that the price is low for all that you’ll get if you buy this iconic piece of Peoria property.
