I’ve decided to really switch things up this week and use a brand new bread, pan and basically run wild with this week’s grilled cheese sandwich.
It’s Grilled Cheese O’clock on this wonderful day!
Here’s the ingredients for this week’s grilled cheese sandwich, from left: Boar’s Head Genoa Salami, King’s Hawaiian Mini Sub Rolls, Boar’s Head Provolone Cheese and Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.
Plus I’ll be using ingredients and spices from the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area.
First I made the mac ‘n cheese.
I used the microwave “Big Bowl” Kraft Foods version and added the last of the Mexican shredded cheese from last week’s grilled cheese sandwich to the mix.
Next I spiced it up with Texas Pete’s Hot Sauce and black pepper.
I took a taste and holy shitballs, it’s delicious!
This week we’re changing things up and I thought I’d make the grilled cheese sandwich using Ing’s Hawaiian Mini Sub Rolls.
This is a sweet bread and I thought it would make for a tasty grilled cheese base.
We’ll put the heel portion of the bread into some melted butter and this week I’m grilling the sandwich in a cast iron skillet because I want the heat up high for this sandwich.
The Hawaiian Roll is more dense than the sourdough bread we’ve been using, so it needs a higher heat to properly grill it.
Okay, the pan is red hot and I’ve applied the Provoloen cheese, the Genoa salami and a layer of the creamy and rich mac ‘n cheese.
Holy shitballs is that a beautiful sight or what?
This sandwich was cooking so fast I had to quit taking pictures after placing the top part of the roll on the sandwich.
I flipped it over and after about a half minute it was done.
Check out the cararmelized butttery texture of the bun!
God-fucking-damn does this sandwich look tasty!
Okay, time to cut the cheese!
Holy fuckballs on toast! This looks lie the best grilled cheese yet!
Look at the different levels of flavor on this sandwich.
Time to dig in to this cheesy delight!
Wow, this is such a delicious and flavorful grilled cheese sandwich!
The Hawaiian Roll is crispy and buttery on the outside and the flavors on the inside are unbelievable!
The Provolone cheese is rich and creamy and the Genoa salami is a nice salty and savory counterpoint.
The mac ‘n cheese layer adds a level of creamy rich flavor that takes the sandwich somewhere over the rainbow of deliciousness!
And there was even a few spoonfuls of mac ‘n cheese left over for a side dish!
“It ain’t the cheese it’s the motion…”
