Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out, starring this week’s host, Lou’s Drive-In, featuring special guest stars, Olivia and Natalie.
Now please welcome this week’s host who’s currently closed for the season starting today, Lou’s Drive-In!
Here we are at Lou’s Drive-In, an iconic summer spot in Peoria for sure. If you missed it this weekend, you have to wait till next year to get their summer-styled treats. It’s now closed for the season.
This summer really flew by! It seems like we were just here, but that was over three months ago!
I took a few shots of Lou’s Drive-In before I picked up my order.
The call-in, pick up parking spots are new this year due to the Covid 19 virus. Let’s hope next year that’s all a thing of the past.
Okay, I got in the socially distanced line and after a few minutes I got up to the counter.
And there’s Olivia and Natalie serving up the order and looking cute in their face masks.
They’ve both been on the MBIP blog before and and Olivia was featured in a “Can I Eat My Lunch In Here” post at Random in Junction City. Check that post out by clicking here.
Great to see both of them again!
Here’s a parting shot of Lou’s Drive-In from my last visit of 2020! We’ll see you in 2021, when hopefully this virus is over and I’ll feel comfortable eating at the counter again!
Alright, here we are back at the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting area.
I got a four course meal from Lou’s, but before we dig in…
Let’s pop open a can of beer. Cheers!
The first course is a crunchy order of onion rings. These are always delicious and a nice start to our Saturday night dinner!
I thought that I’d order a couple things I’ve never had off of the menu and I tried the chicken nuggets. They had a nice crispy seasoned coating and they were a tasty delight!
I’ve had the chili-cheese tamale before and it never disappoints!
I’ve never had the BBQ sandwich from Lou’s and thought I’d try it out for my last meal from this 2020 season. It looks fabulous!
It was delicious and this was a fantastic four-course meal from Lou’s Drive-In.
I’m looking forward to eating at the Lou’s Island in 2021, when this rotten virus is all over!
I got a four-course meal for my last supper at Lou’s Drive-In for the 2020 season.
The first course was an order of their crunchy onion rings. I’ve had these before and they’re always a tasty treat!
Next I sampled the chicken nuggets and they were crunchy on the outside and plump and wonderful on the inside.
The third course was a chili-cheese tamale and that was so delicious. The chili and tamale had a nice spicy flavor and the cheese added a rich and creamy texture to the dish.
For the main course I tried out the BBQ sandwich. I had never tried this before and it was a delightful sandwich. The beef was shredded and the BBQ sauce was tangy and had an underlying sweet flavor to it. The bun was bakery fresh and it was a wonderful sandwich.
Lou’s is closed for the season, but thanks to Olivia, Natalie and everyone else at Lou’s for keeping a Peoria tradition running and alive and well in these trying times!
Happy Labor Day everyone!
