Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out starring this week’s host, Donnelly’s Irish Pub and featuring special guest star, Billy.
Now please welcome this week’s host, Donnelly’s Irish Pub!
Here we are at Donnelly’s Irish Pub. This is one of Peoria’s oldest Irish Pub’s with it’s beginnings going back to the Shamrock bar.
Check out this post from back when the Shamrock was still alive and kicking before they moved over here.
They have outside seating on the patio here, but I’ve already phoned my order in for this week’s take-out meal, so let’s go in and pick it up.
You can celebrate the halfway mark to St. Patrick’s Day this week here at Donnelly’s. There’s food and drink specials to mark this festive halfway point.
Here’s some nice press that they’ve gotten through the years here in Peoria.
There’s a photo of Terry Donnelly who first opened the Shamrock with his wife Molly back in the ‘70’s. Their son, Ryan now runs the place, keeping it a locally-owned family business.
Okay, let’s go in and pick up this week’s take-out dinner.
I went up to the bar and Billy had my order all ready to go.
He told me I could wander around and take some photos, so that’s what I did!
As you can see, they have a large selection of beers on tap for you craft beer lovers!
There’s tables to the side of the bar and you can’t be an official Irish pub without a framed portrait of JFK on the wall!
Comfortable booths line the wall opposite the bar.
You can eat inside at the dining room in here, but since I was here at an odd time (four in the afternoon) it was empty.
As I took the shot at the large communal table, I knew that I had to get a shot with an obligatory caption…
And here it is: Oh deer!
Okay, I feel better, let’s keep moving along here.
Two more shots from Donnelly’s Irish Pub and then it’s time to head back to…
The MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area to enjoy this week’s Saturday Night Take-Out Dinner!
I started off with an order of their hot chicken wings.
These were plump, juicy and spicy. Delicious chicken wings and a delightful start to this Saturday Night Dinner!
Here’s the main course, their breaded chicken sandwich with French Fries.
The sandwich has homemade slaw on top and pickles underneath. It looks like a tasty treat!
The French Fries were delicious, now let’s try out this sandwich!
Wow, this is one unbelievable chicken sandwich!
You can read more about it in the review below, but you should definitely stop by Donnelly’s Irish Pub and try this out for yourself! You can dine in or get it to go.
The food at Donnelly’s Irish Pub never disappoints and this dinner was no exception to that fine dining rule.
I started off with an order of hot chicken wings and they had just the right amount of heat to be spicy, but not uncomfortable to eat. They were tangy and tasty and a nice start to this Saturday night dinner.
For the main course, I ordered their seven ounce breaded chicken sandwich. I had seen a picture of this sandwich on facecrack and wanted to try it out.
The fries are hand-cut and delicious and the sandwich was amazing! It’s a seven ounce hand-breaded breast of chicken fried with a golden brown crispy crust. It’s topped with a Cilantro ranch cole slaw and there’s crispy pickle slices on the bottom of the sandwich.
The chicken is crispy on the outside and so tender and juicy when you bite into it. The slaw and pickles add a nice flavor to the sandwich and the bun is soft and bakery fresh.
A real taste-treat and this was a wonderful Saturday night feast!
