Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out, starring this week’s host, The Other Dawg with special guest star, Trina and featuring me standing in some hot dog photo thingy.
Now, please welcome, this week’s host, The Other Dawg!
The Other Dawg used to be located off of Prospect near Trefzger’s Bakery, but they moved about a year ago to this location on War Memorial Drive, right across from Alwan and Sons Meat Company.
There’s a drive-through on the side of the building, but I called my order in, so let’s go inside and pick it up.
This place is a lot bigger than the other location was.
That’s Trina behind the counter and she’s still working on the order and said I could roam around and take pictures while she finishes preparing tonight’s meal. So that’s just what I did!
There’s a counter up front that overlooks the parking lot and War Memorial Drive.
Check out the nice condiment station here to spice up your order.
Booths and tables line the walls and there’s a giant hot dog in the middle of the room for a unique photo. I have to do that before I leave!
This little girl made a sign for Illinois to open up after we had to shut down for the pandemic. It now hangs on the wall in the dining room.
As you can see, the place has lots of photos on the walls and here’s a few of them.
There’s Trina with tonight’s Saturday night feast. She not only graciously served up the dinner and posed for a photo…
She also took one of me being a real hot dog!
Okay, here we are back at the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area.
That bag has too many “Thank You’s” on it. One would be enough, three gets into Gomer Pyle territory!
Here’s tonight’s meal unbagged. Before we start digging in, let’s uncork a giganzo can of Bud Light. Cheers!
I started off with an order of cheese nachos. I added some hot sauce for a little kick and they were rich, creamy and very flavorful. We’re off to a wonderful start!
I got an order of hot chicken wings and they were very tasty as well. Just the right amount of heat and they had a nice zippy and spicy flavor to them.
Now we’re up to the star of tonight’s meal, a chili cheese dog!
The meat sauce is made in-house from a secret recipe and it’s got a delicious and unique flavor. The bun is steamed and bakery fresh and this is such a unique hot dog. It lives up to the name of the place!
For the fourth and final course, I got a loose meat sandwich and spiced it up with some Sandwich Pal Mustard and hot sauce.
This is the same meat that’s put on top of the hot dog and it makes for a tasty sandwich.
This was a wonderful Saturday night meal from The Other Dawg!
I started this week’s Saturday night meal off with an order of cheese nachos. The cheese was rich, creamy and delicious and it was a nice start to this four-course meal.
Next I chowed down on an order of the hot wings. The wings were lightly breaded and seasoned nicely with just enough heat and spicy flavor. They were plump and juicy as well.
I had to get a hot dog here, it’s just the rules! I went all out and got a chili cheese dog and it was fabulous.
The bun was steamed and the hot dog and cheese were very tasty. But the star of this order was the meat sauce. It’s homemade and the recipe is secret, but it’s savory and unlike any meat sauce I’ve had on a hot dog.
Finally I ended up with a loose meat sandwich that’s made from the same meat sauce that tops the hot dogs in here. It didn’t disappoint and it was a delicious sandwich. The bun was steamed and bakery fresh and this meal was a fabulous four-course delight!
