It’s been a little challenging maintaining this blog during a pandemic.
Because of my previous heart condition and age, I’m in a high risk group, so I have to really watch it. That limits me as far as going out and doing blog posts. So I’ve decided to start a new food series that I’ll do for a while that we can do within the safety of the MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area.
The other day at the store I saw this cool-ass grilled cheese pan!
I realized I haven’t made a grilled cheese sandwich in decades! So I thought I’d make one today and make variations of the grilled cheese sandwich in the upcoming weeks.
Let’s cook! (Thanks to Chad Wallace for that link!)
The ingredients: Well, this couldn’t be any more simple: Sour-Dough Bread and Kraft Singles American Cheese. All the makings for a classic grilled cheese sandwich!
Plus butter already in the fridge at the MBIP World Headquarters and Tasting Area.
We’ll take two slices of the bread and then place the loaf in the freezer next to the vodka and with my tax returns and final will. It’s where I keep my important papers people!
Here’s the bread with the cheese, time to get this cheesy party started!
First we’ll melt some butter in this little pan I usually use for making sauces.
Next we’ll butter up the grilled cheese pan and get it pre-heated. This is getting exciting!
Now we’ll dunk the two slices of bread into the melted butter.
Okay, it’s time to start the grilled cheese experience!
The first slice of bread is put onto the pan, butter-side down.
The cheese is applied and since it wasn’t melting fast enough I put up a make-shift foil lid to this cheesy operation.
Talk about thinking on your feet!
After a couple of minutes it was time for the all-important flip.
Holy shitballs, look at the color of this sandwich! it’s fucking beautiful, what a cheesy piece of edible art!
I shmooshed it down with the spatula, because that’s what you do to a grilled cheese sandwich, it’s just the rules people!
There it is off of the heat and onto the plate.
Time for the all important diagonal cut of the grilled cheese sandwich…You have to cut it diagonal, another grilled cheese rule…
Holy shitballs, what a goddamned glorious sight!
The bread is crispy and buttery and the melted cheese is oozing out of it.
Let’s take a bite out of this wonderous looking sandwich!
Oh my God, this is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life!
The bread is crunchy and buttery and the cheese is rich, warm and oh so tasty.
This is like a slice of melted cheese heaven! What a classic treat!
And this is just the beginning, stay tuned for more grilled cheesy adventures happening next week here at MBIP!
