Live, from Peoria, Illinois, it’s Saturday Night Take-Out starring this week’s host, Mack’s and featuring special guest star, Robin.
Now please welcome this week’s host, all the way from downtown Peoria…Mack’s!
Mack’s is located in the space that formerly was occupied by Tannins & Hops. It’s on Water Street next to Kelleher’s Irish Pub.
As you can see, there’s plenty of outdoor seating here but we’re getting our dinner to go, so let’s go inside and pick it up.
It’s nice in here and they have a garage/car/motorcycle theme going on in here. I checked in at the bar and was told that my order was just about done. I wandered around and took some photos while I waited for our Saturday night take-out dinner.
There’s a railing where you can sit up front and look out at what’s happening on Water Street.
As I said, they have a garage/car/motorcycle theme in here as you can see from these photos.
They have a nice selection of beer in here, and there’s also a well-stocked bar.
Robin was working behind the bar and here she is delivering this week’s take-out meal with a pretty smile!
When I came back to the MBIP World Headquarters, there was a cat sitting in the window of an apartment in the building. I love it when that happens!
Okay, here we are at the Kitchen and Tasting Area of the MBIP World Headquarters. The first course in our Saturday night dinner is a giganzo can of Bud Light. Cheers!
Here’s our meal boxed and then opened up!
The first course is Chili Mack. it’s pasta with nacho cheese, beanless chili and candied bacon. I’ll write more about it in the review below, but it was so delicious! And the chili was beanless, the way chili should be!
I got the Mack’s Fry Blend for the side dish. It’s a combintation of house made tots, crinkle, waffle and curly cut fries seasoned with Mack’s salt.
For the main course I got the Monte Cristo sandwich. I was intrigued about this sandwich after reading their description on the menu.
Here’s the description from the online menu: “Ham & turkey dredged in waffle batter and deep fried, dusted with powdered sugar and drizzled in raspberry sauce.” The raspberry sauce is in a container to the side when you get it to go and this is such a unique and tasty sandwich! I’ve never had anything like it before and it’s quite a tasty treat!
This was a delicious dinner from Mack’s. It was a three course meal that started out with their version of chili mac, which they call, Chili Mack. It’s pasta, spicy nacho cheese and beanless chili mixed together in one spicy and tasty dish. It’s a nice twist on a tried and true dish.
For my side dish I got the Mack’s Fry Blend which is a quartet of tasty potato selections including tots, curly fries, crinkle cut fries and potato wedges. They’re seasoned with the Mack’s made house salt and it’s a delicious mix of starchy treats!
I got the Monte Cristo sandwich and there’s not another sandwich like this in Peoria or beyond! it’s made with deep-fried waffle batter, dusted with powdered sugar and stuffed with juicy and succulent slices of ham and turkey. This is a decadent treat and so delicious!
This was a wonderful Saturday night dinner and I’m definitely coming back to try some of the other items on the menu.
