There’s a fairly new Mexican restaurant that’s opened up over on Sterling Avenue that I drive by on my way to work every day. I decided to stop by and check it out and make it this week’s taco destination. So it’s off we go to Rudy’s Mexican Cantina & Grill.
Here we are at Rudy’s Mexican Cantina & Grill on Sterling Avenue. Check out the specials, Quesadilla Fajitos for $8.99 and 16 ounce margaritas for $4.99! Such a deal!
And you can insert your own Corona Virus joke here.
I love the neon in the window and as you can see, you can dine-in, call Grubhub or carry-out.
We’ll be carrying out tonight, thank you very much…for the aintree iron.
When I walked in, I immediately met the owners of this fine establishment, Rudy and Leonora. They told me that they opened about ten months ago and they’ve been doing a good business in spite of the pandemic.
This is a family run business and they employ many relatives. They are so friendly and you should stop by and help support this local family-run business!
Here’s the dining room and Leonora told me that they take great pride in the saying on the back wall: “Where you come as Amigos, and you leave us as Familia.”
That is such a nice sentiment and I love it!
Comfortable booths line the walls in here.
There’s also a Cantina off to the side of the dining room.
This is a cozy bar area for drinks and fun. I love the art in here!
And then, all of a sudden…
Whoosh, we’re back at MBIP World Headquarters Kitchen and Tasting Area.
Okay, time to sample this week’s taco meal!
For a starter, I ordered the Queso Fundido chips and dip.
This is a warm cheese dip with large chunks of spicy Chorizo sausage.
The cheese dip is rich and creamy and it blends so well with the spicy sausage and crisp tortilla crackers. Very tasty and a nice start to this evening’s taco dinner!
For this week’s tacos, I ordered up the Tacos de Lechuga, This dish is grilled chicken and mushrooms covered in a sweet and spicy homemade sauce and topped with melted cheese.
It comes with slices of Romaine lettuce to use as a wrap for the tacos.
Wow, this was such a delicious dish!
The chicken was tender and juicy and the sauce was equal parts sweet and spicy. There was also melted cheese and mushrooms and the lettuce was a nice cool addition to the mix!
This was quite a unique and flavorful taco! You need to stop by Peoria’s newest and friendly Mexican restaurant and try this and the other flavorful treats on the menu!
