The Downtown Peoria Public Library hosts some interesting art exhibits and one is happening right now. The latest art exhibition was organized by 22VA, a group of talented Veteran Artists that encourage Military Veterans to express themselves through various forms of art.
One of the goals of this exhibit is to reduce the number of Veteran suicides that occur too often. Veteran suicides claim the lives of 22 Veterans a day, a rate that is more than double the rate for the civilian population.
I went and took a look around the other day and the artwork was fascinating, enjoyable and educational. Below are my photos and the names of some of the Veteran Artists.
Here we are at the downtown Peoria Public Library on the corner of Monroe and Main Street. I love this building!
I wandered inside and found a sign that said the exhibit was downstairs.
So it’s down the stairs we go and whoomp—there’s the exhibit!
There’s a lot to see here and so much interesting and unique art!
Below is just a small sampling of some of the art on display in here. You really need to stop by and check all of it out!
Some thank you art is posted here from people that have come through this exhibit.
Thanks to all of the Veterans for your service to this country. Every day should be Veterans Day.
This exhibit is on display until January 30th and you should make an effort to stop by the library and check it out!
