A few weeks ago on December 16th it marked the twelfth anniversary of the death of Dan Fogelberg. I saw that online and couldn’t believe he’s been gone for over a dozen years now.
Dan is a true Peoria hometown hero and below are six links to online interviews and articles about him and there’s also a trifecta of links to MBIP posts that I’ve written about Dan through the years.
And then there’s the MBIP Coming Attractions for what’s happening here next week.
Dan Fogelberg Dot Com - The official website for Dan Fogelberg
Dan Fogelberg Timeline - A great timeline of Dan’s life and work.
Luciano: It’s a column that I cherish, thanks to Dan Fogelberg - PJ Star writer and columnist, Phil Luciano got national attention when he uncovered the identity of Dan’s former girlfriend who was the inspiration of one of his best known songs that has become a Christmas standard.
Remembering Dan Fogelberg - Dan Fogelberg didn’t do a lot of interviews and this is one of the best ones I’ve ever read.
About My Best Friend - Jon Asher was best friends with Dan Fogelberg and his bandmate in the ’60s. This blog has some great stories of their friendship and times spent together.
Dan Fogelberg Lyric Rocker, Dies at 56 - Dan’s obituary in the New York Times.
MBIP Posts Featuring Dan Fogelberg
From A Basement To A Stage: The Oral History of the Coachmen - The oral history of The Coachmen, one of Dan’s first bands he played in here in Peoria. This is one of my favorite pieces I’ve ever worked on and thanks to the surviving members of the band for working on it with me. This has been the most widely read post here on MBIP.
The MBIP Dan Fogelberg Peoria Tour - A tour of some of the highlights here in Peoria that showcase Dan’s time in the River City.
Dan Fogelberg & Gary Richrath: Benched! - This post features two benches in Peoria honoring these two hometown heroes.
Monday: A Saturday night dinner turns into a close look at the condom machine at Castle’s Patio Inn! You had to be there, folks and tomorrow you can be there via MBIP!
Tuesday: The 13 month chicken eating tour is finally over and this is a palate cleansing post and I’ll announce what the next MBIP food tour is. And don’t worry, it’s not going to be another 13 month tour, that was way too long and I’ll never do it again!
Wednesday: I went to an art exhibit at the Peoria Public Library downtown that features artwork from 22 military veterans. This display is featured at the downtown library until the end of the month and you can check out photos from the exhibit on Wednesday.
Thursday: I’ll be preparing another Thursday Minute Marty Meal, I’m not sure what I’ll be cooking up, but hopefully it’ll be something tasty!
Friday: I’m eating the entire menu at McDonald’s and this week we’ll find out what’s the difference between a Double Cheeseburger and the McDouble burger. They seem like the same thing to me!
Saturday: We’ll be spotlighting a sandwich on the weekly Sandwiches of Peoria segment.
Okay, that’s what’s coming up and I have to go work on all of this stuff. This blog doesn’t write itself, but sometimes I wish that it did!
Have a fun Sunday and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
